Slightly unusual problem which I can't think of a reason for, let alone a solution: The first time I press the voice chat button, and every subsequent time unless I've pushed it recently (Within the last minute or so) my game will completely freeze for a few seconds. Once it unfreezes itself the voice chat works fine with no lag, and receiving voice chat from other players works fine too. I'm running the Mac version of TF2, so it's possible that it's a poor port and is a platform-specific problem, I don't have a way of testing that theory easily. Does anyone have a solution, or has anyone else experienced something similar?

Don't suppose you're using the built in mic? Might be a switch on/off problem (i.e. when you push-to-talk it takes a second to turn the mic on).

If you haven't try with an external mic and see what happens; else try updating the ATI drivers, as there have been a few known issues with audio lagging for specific driver versions (don't have the list to hand).

I wouldn't have thought an issue with the mic itself would cause the game to freeze, but I'll look into it anyway. Unfortunately I don't think I have an external mic anywhere, or at least not one that's any use for gaming. I'll see if I can find find more info on the driver problems though, thanks.
