since there's no actual "Rant" section under Death Star...I'll do it out here...

How much did it suck that the very first released Star Wars films on DVD were not only in the $60 box, but they were the "enhanced" versions as well with the original versions nowhere in sight? Yeah - I know now you can buy them individually in their original format but I recieved the box set as a gift right when it came out (along with probably most people when they knew the Star Wars films were coming out on DVD for the first time ever).

Ok, the enhanced versions arent that bad but at the same time they are...the mixture of obvious CG on 1970s film is almost unbearable for me at times...I dont care about things like the Dewbacks in the background in New Hope I'm talking like the redone version of the Jabba the Hutt palace performance in Return of the Jedi though...I liked the original so much more..plus the Sarlac with the little "fly-trap"-esque head? What the hell? it was more intimidating when it was just the open, nasty looking, teeth pit with tentacles. Plus how does that work? the head is inside the mouth of teeth? What!? Also replacing the original actor's ghost of Anakin at the end of Return of the Jedi with the new actor from the 1-3 episodes...why? to what purpose? Luke would not have known that that was his father when he was younger...

Also - what's up with Luke's (actually Obi-Won's) lightsaber changing colors like 3 times in New Hope? It's blue in the beginning, green when Luke is practicing on the Falcon, and blue then white when Obi fights Vader at the end...as far as I remember on the original VHS versions it was blue throughout

Come on, luke isn't thick, if you know powerfull jedi come back as ghosts, and you see Yoda and another jedi standing in front of you, smiling at you, and you know your father was powerfull and has just died, it's not that hard to figue out, plus Obi-wan may have shown luke pictures of Anakin Also - what's up with Luke's (actually Obi-Won's) lightsaber changing colors like 3 times in New Hope? Yeah - ok but then explain to me why it is that Yoda and Obi didnt magically change back to their twenty-something selves like Anakin did? Luke may have known what his father looked like at that age but why does he magically go back a large amount of years in appearence as a ghost?

No it was like it on the VHS Versions.

I dont think so, at least not in MY VHS version

The Three worst things about the Special Editions. 1: The new Mos Eisley entrance scene. Sooooo badly done. 2: Luke's rather wimpy and pointless scream after throwing himself "into the abyss" on Cloud City. 3: The Sarlaac pit. (It's not the Sarlaac beak, despite Lucas's rework.)

If seeing Anakin Skywalker along with Yoda and Obi was supposed to represent his coming back to the Lightside, then keeping Sebastian Shaw makes more sense than substituting him with Hayden Christiansen - Hayden = Young Anakin going to the Dark Side Sebastian = Anakin's return to the Lightside.

One correction, it was Luke's (Anakin's) Lightsaber you see him waving about, not Obi-Wan's. Different hilt. As for the color changing, blame the technology used to rotoscope Lightsaber blades originally.

Yes, Luke was given Anakin's lightsaber by Obi-Wan. So now they both have lightsabers. Obi-Wan has his lightsaber and Luke has Anakin's old lightsaber. Are you referring to on the falcon when Luke was training? Obi-Wan could have brought some kind of training lightsaber along for Luke. I didn't memorize what the hilt looked like when he was training with that remote on the falcon(traveling to alderaan).

Luke probably would have known on instinct, I'm sure of it. He obviously wasn't going to be a darth vader ghost. Some say it is because that's when Anakin died. Remember Yoda saying, "The boy you trained, gone he is, consumed by Darth Vader.", along with several references of Anakin's death, not in physical form but in other ways, from Obi-Wan. However he did return back to the light before he died. So, it's a pretty controversial topic. George Lucas might be able to answer that question a lot better than I can.

Matter of opinion I guess. There are very mysterious creatures in Star Wars :)

Nope, same same saber as he's given on Tatooine.
