Anyone hear about the 501st member who got arrested for carrying an "illegal weapon", Its pretty messed up although I can understand how someone can confuse and e-11 replica with an SMG after all the original props were based around them. But charging for having an unregistered firearm is a bit nuts.

Here's a link to a high res video and a low res one

Was it actually an E-11 replica/toy, or was this guy lucky enough to have an actual Sterling SMG or Sterling replica?

It was a replica, he apprently just got an E-11 toy and made it look more like its moive counter part, getting a gun in Australia in basically iliegal unless your a cop, security guard or farmer who then only gets a crumby bolt-action rifle or shotgun. Even de-activated weapons are hard to get past the law, esspecially foreign ones like the Sten which would probably have to be imported from the UK.

I have nothing against the cops tacking him down becuase they thought it was a real gun. Aprrently however might charge him for owning and "illegal firearm" how can it be illegal it was never a gun to begin with. If that goes though I'm going to be pissed off.

well that's how it works ... the legislative and executive always have to act out as if they're never wrong -- even when its obvious as this time -- this kind of shit makes me sick :KTA:

It's nice to know that the authorities are ready to act on potential threats... but a little judgement is always a useful thing to have in any situation. That they cuffed and charged this guy is ridiculous... and they need to be pressured to drop the charges... what charges?!

Taking heed of DarthWong's warning eh http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Media/StarDestroyer-Net3.jpg

Our police are sometimes pretty pathetic, in the Redfern riots someone through a fraking street sign at a cop and they don't get their ass thrown in a fraking cell. Yet a charity worker gets charged for a that isn't even a crime. How come the one time the cops come down on a person like a ton of bricks is the one time they didn't deserve it. Its like a person being charged for murder even though the victim is sitting in the court room across from the defendent.

Hey wonder what would happen if their was a 501st parade would they call the army.
