It is my pleasure to present to you the current readme of our upcoming realism mod, "Band of Brothers." Please leave all comments and questions here, and please be constructive.
Band of Brothers Realism Mod ---------------------------- Pre Release Change Manifest For RtCW Retail 1.4 / 1.41
MEDIA CHANGES: -------------- -All new sounds, most of which are straight from the actual weapons used in the Band of Brothers Miniseries. -Sharpened weapon textures. -New menu, with incredible music clip compiled by the sound guru himself, Det Pak! -Replaced as many Wolf Eagle logos with iron crosses as possible. We tried to avoid swaztikas. -New 506th PIR, 101st Airborne skin. -Tracers are no longer visible. -Medics have armbands for increased external visibility. -Many more small changes.
CODE CHANGES: ------------- SERVER SIDE CHANGES:
-Running speeds changed for various weapons. -Reloads while leaning. -Panzerfaust can be fired while leaning. -Medics can use syringes underwater. -Weapons produce recoil (kicks up crosshairs on screen). -Gravity increased (Falls are more lethal; can't jump as high). -MG42 tweaked: Fires at 1000 rpm, is less accurate, and is very lethal. -Venom tweaked: Now has 50 round magazine, does not require rev-up time. -Mauser tweaked: Now has 5 round magazine, reload time increased. -Sten MKII tweaked: Lowest damage of SMGs to compensate for silencer. -All automatic rates of fire scaled to reflect RPMs of the actual weapons. -Locational Damage: Original WolfMP had two locations where you could get hit, the body and the head. We now have items such as head, face, arms, shoulders, belly, back, legs, and feet. Leg and foot shots will "gimp" the player which can be fixed by a medic. -Flamethrower is 10x more powerful. One good burst can eliminate an entire crowd. -Airstrikes replaced with Smoke Grenades. Both teams use red smoke. Both LTs and Medics can use Smoke Grenades. LTs can still use binoculars to call artillery. -Several Weapon Distribution Changes: - Soldiers and LTs start with max ammo. - Engineers have 1 extra clip than normal. - Medics do not receive a primary weapon. - Only Allies can start with Thompson, only Germans start with MP40 (Enemy weapons can be picked up though). Both sides can have Sten MKII SD (for balance). -Flamethrower, Mausers, and Venoms are dropped when players die. -Medics Can Heal Enemies: This can be used as a sign of good faith, since Medics are not fully equiped to fight. However, to prevent spawn camping, healing an enemy reduces your score by one point. -All weapons are much stronger now. Expect at least 1 to 3 shots per kill. -Most weapons are no longer as accurate as they once were. -Grenades can be thrown slightly farther.
-New death messages. -First person weapon model positions have been adjusted (ie Panzerfaust is held near shoulder, not hip). These can be undone with a console command: "/cg_Ironsites x" -Set default for cg_Autoreload to 0. Makes reloading in a firefight more challenging. -Removed the trails that followed grenades through the air. -First person weapons bob more. -Many weapons now produce smoke from the barrel when firing.
-Many other small changes and tweaks.

This looks awesome guys. please update us when it is gonna be releasde. Also, are you gonna work on a realism mod for ET too? thatd be awesome too. Gr8 job.
We'd like to move to ET, but we do not know if ET Source Code will ever be released, and even so, what changes it might have to the basic code.
ET in its present form doesnt seem to have mod support (no mod menu in options).

No prob. I just think that rtcw is a tough game to make realistic, and u guys seem to know what ur doin, so i hope for the best with ur mod. Trust, me , i will be the first to be playin it :). Will u guys have a server set up for the mod? is so, what is its IP? thnks alot. Good luck.
dude, all I can say is this mod is totally gonna rock! As a big fan of the BoB Mini series I look forward to playing this! From what it sounds like, it will be pretty much like playing in the movie and that will kick major ass. even if you cant get it on ET i will really enjoy playing it on RTCW. thnx a lot for making this!:rock:
If you wan to make a mod for ET make one for the fire rates of teh sub machine guns. and also for the sounds too
I say go for it wish I could help create you guys a website but busy w/ this & work. Also maybe it would be worth a shot @ emailing ActiveVision you never know maybe they'll give you the source code to make that kind of mod.
If you want some forums to discuss ideas or soemthing I could set you up some phpbb2 boards np like I did for the ff clan (just check my sig link)
A forum would be nice, but what we really need is a server. Is there any chance that RtCWFiles.com will get another server, DragonFly? If so, would you even be interested in hosting our mod?

I really wish we could get another server trust me I tried for RTCW but it's a no go for us anyways not without adding millions more ads to the site :mad:. I'll give a few companies a email & see if they will be nice enough to sponsor your mod...
Ah no problem DragonFly. I'll bet it took a long time just to get the server you have now. And thanks for the bit o' public relations help. :cool:
