I so dont understand this. In the alot of star wars game a power such as choke or lightning is only accessible to you if you belong to the dark side but then howcome in the movies and as well as the games i always hear "No force power is inheritently evil" anyway i mean wouldnt it be easier for a jedi not sith but a jedi to just choke and then hurl opponents such as storm troopers off of balconies rather than deflecting their lasers i mean didnt we all see how fast the lightning move killed people in jedi outcast and academy so i dont see how a jedi would be evil for choking or using lightning i see how they would be a jedi in a hurry but not an evil jedi.

it's how you use the force powers......if it hurts someone it it's dark side. Also stuff like choke and lighing just add to the sith making to more evil i guess

gamer105No force power is inherently evil

That is correct. The reason they are considered evil is because of the intent of those who use them. Let's say a jedi needs to get past an innocent guard. He might use a mind trick, causing no pain to the guard. A sith may not care for the lives of the innocent, and choke the guard to death, thereby causing him the maximum pain possible.

That's not really true though. From what I've read in the books, there is an evil side to the Force.

Yeah, but if you notice, Obi-Wan did not go out of his way to fight the Genosians. He only did it when attacked by them. Anakin went to the dark side when he thought it would save Padme. That being the case, is it a good reason to go to the dark side, since he was doing it to save someone? But then you have it as a greedy reason for doing it instead of an altruistic reason. A jedi could use grip or lightning without being evil, but they would have to know when they could use it. Grip could be used on someone a mind trick wouldn't work on to make them pass out. Yoda himself used force lightning against Palpatine. It was a reflection of Palpatines lightning, but Yoda still used it instead of just letting it fly off uselessly from his hands. I do remember a force power from the games that was evil. That was the force drain. It would drain the life force from an enemy. I can't see how that could be transferred to the good side.

well if a jedi could kill and still be a good light sided jedi then i dont see how drain is evil it is simply killing but not wasting your enemies life so to speak

Drain doesn't exist outside of the videogames for anyone less than a sith lord. Unlike videogames you can not get lighting by level 20 as a jedi, it takes a huge connection to the force to be able to do things like that and it also requires sith teachings. The jedi manipulate the force and let it guide them, the sith become conduits for the force and it controls them inspired by their nature (which is most usualy evil) So for a jedi it would mean throwing control and caution to the wind and following repressed passions.

I'll turn this on you from the countless books I've read. If a predator attacks a herd of animals, is it of the dark side? No, because it is natural. The light side is not natural, to utilize the Force to the fullest without becoming evil you have to become natural and let whatever you're feeling make you do stuff. @Jo: The Force don't take sides. Teh Force doesn't care what shades your thoughts are, it just does what they say. But you should so we don't really know where you draw the line. And considering that the newest SW novel is coming out about a month we may prove this false...
