i have a leak in my map that gos from one point i the void to another it doesnt come from anypart inside my lvl nore is it anywhere near a leak plz help WHERE THE HELL IS IT!!! i have to have map done within 1 hour!!:confused: :confused:

the leak is figured from the nearest entity that see's it. Hold you level underwater and mark where the bubbles come out. You should not have a leak as using caulk hull and outside walls of 16 units or more will pervent this. I suppose to be fare I use to get leaks a few years back when I started mapping for Half-Life.

If I was looking for the leak for an indoor map and needed to find it quick, I would dim my light entities (you can select them all and lower the value for all of them at once) and then I would throw a skybox around my level and compile it. go through the level and search for the leak. or just throw a caulk brush around it and compile it. that would fix the leak. until you have time to find it latter. There will be alot of wasted space in the light and vis compile time for both methods. The Lightgrid.shader can get around this for light, but its more work.

The best way is to avoid leaks altogether. Never, never, never. go below grid 16 when making outer walls. IN fact go to 32 grid spaceing if possible. Most top quake III levels use 32 or 64 grid spacing for all outer walls with a caulk hull. This error is easy to avoid.

There are other things that may cause a leak. Like not placeing a info_player_start or having a entity out in the void somewhere. I am not sure how this effects q3map2.
