Is it just me, or does the Legacy era just kind of... screw up the entire Star Wars saga?

Now, it was all fine and dandy untill they killed Chewie, destroyed the Jedi order (again), made the main character in Infinities a typical "Bad boy", and re-created both the Empire and the Sith... let alone the Yuuzhan Vong.

The weapons look.. different, and not in a better way, as do the vehicles, and everyone you know is dead.

It's just kind of weird.

It's like, sure the Jedi "prophets" or whatever predicted that a Jedi would bring balance to the force.. but guess what, after 126 years, thats all screwed up again!

Maybe I'm just the "If I didn't see it in the movies, or games at least, I don't like it" kind of person, but does anyone else not like this extention to the Star Wars story?

Anything 30 years after the Battle of Yavin, I think, actually it might be anything after the Battle of Endor, but I'm not sure.

The history of SW is just the same types of events happening over and over again. Good guys in power, all is relatively peaceful. Bad guys scheme and conive. Bad guys bring about end of good guys ruling. Good guys flee + regroup. Good guys embark on their own crusade to (once again) topple the bad guys from their position of "absolute" power.

To put into real world terms, empires come and go. Over and over again. Some last a very long time. Some don't. The balance of power is tenuous, and always shifting.

It's a damn good (and very true) excuse to rehash the same type of thing over and over again. Throw in a few variations here and there, but basically it's still the same.

Close, 40 ABY.

I dont think it does. It is actually quite cool, and improves the story a lot.

Not really.

The thing it ruins is the so-called prophecy, great, the "Chosen One" just goes, destroys the Jedi, his "important" son comes, redeems him, then he dies, his son rebuilds the Republic and the Jedi order, and guess what? it gets torn down again!

No prophecy about that, nothing, no more chosen one to come "save" you, it just ruins the mystical nature of the Movies, how you think "It'll all work out for good, because the Almighty Force Prophecy is on my side!".

I've never heard of the Legacy storyline. Who came up with it? If it isn't Lucas, or Lucas-supported, then you can dismiss it as non-cannon and get Lucas to make his own version of the Legacy era.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure its "canon", as it doesn't come up under Infinities.

I haven't been interested to read anything past book one. I'm kind of sick of the EU now, since it's becoming a mess. Really, do they really need a major conflict/war every year or two? It's just really stale now.
