I learned most of it on starwars message boards where scans of comics were posted, and ofcourse the starwars database. I'd never heard he had been killed, however IIRC(If I recall correctly) it is in the database that he preserved his soul in the sith temple there and was later awakened by one of luke's students who found the temple, that student was possesed and tried to raise up the sith again, but was foiled by luke who banished Kun back to his temple.
Exar Kun was first corrupted on Dxun when he found an amulet that contained the soul of the ancient sith, Freedon Nad, the sith which broke the peace between the republic and sith and engulfed the galaxy in war, and released the spirit, Nadd then took Kun to Korriban where the spirits of the dark lords that resided there collapsed their tombs in on him effectively killing Exar Kun, but he rose from the ruins fueled by the darkside's power which was the only thing to keep him alive after that. Exar Kun was the first to build and use the saber staff (double bladed light saber) and was chosen by the ghost of Marka Ragnos, who in sith legend is mentioned as the greatest of all sith, to be the dark lord of the sith. Ulic Quel-Droma, was the runner up and joined him as his apprentice until Ulic was banished from the force by his former lover after he killed his brother. It is never directly stated that Kun purposesly turned the jedi against their loved ones, but you see it throughout the tales of the jedi with those under his command and how they were corrupted and killed their loved ones. After the tales of the jedi we don't see many jedi families if any until luke.
Exar Kun was the most destructive sith up till the emporer and darth vader, if not more destructive, having brought death to the jedi reducing possibly hundreds of thousands to only a few thousand. The detactchment of the jedi is also linked to the age law, the younger the students are, the more easily their minds can be manipulated to forget attatchment and focus life on study and the keeping of the peace. It may infact be Exar Kun that lead to the eventual downfall of the jedi order, by changing the way the jedi order was structured, making it stricter, making them try and block emotions, which led to a large part in anakin's struggle (not being able to tell the jedi about padme and his dreams). So in a way Nadd really fullfilled his revenge on the jedi, just not during the course of his existence.

AdmCorranHornChemix where did you get all that info about Exar Kun? I never heard of him turning loved ones on each other. He was killed by the wife of a jedi he killed. She was force sensitive but never felt the calling to become a jedi. When her husband was killed she finally had herself trained as a Jedi and led the team the brought down Exar Kun.
Go play KotOR and KotOR2, dear ;). They go into a lot of the background of Exar Kun and the war. As I recall, Jolee's wife went with Kun.
Ok then. I will have to do that at some point.
