I was just remembering back to something a friend sent me a long time ago and I got to thinkin.. What if there were nine parts? People in the early (very early) 80's certainly thought there were going to be 9 parts..
Randal Schwartz - 8.6.1982
"Revenge of the Jedi"... Episode 6 in the Star Wars saga, has just finished filming, according to some friends I have down in Arizona.
The release date for us humans that want to see it is still the summer of 1983. I guess it takes that long to score all the music, do all the film-editing, prepare all the promo material, and all that junk. I wish Lucas & Co. would get the thing going a little faster. I can't really imagine waiting until 1997 to see all nine parts of the Star Wars series.
That's from: http://groups.google.com/group/net.movies/browse_thread/thread/f11b2b6bf311df26/1cf7b5461f1032f5?hl=en&lnk=st&q=star+wars+1997#1cf7b5461f1032f5 He had contacts down here near me =/
Lucasfilm has a little development lab for post-production facilities in Marin County, which is just getting up to speed with some advanced moviemaking tools. Some of the work on Revenge of the Jedi will be done there (e.g. the sound). It's wise they left a full year for post-production on Revenge of the Jedi, since the new systems have lots spanking new hardware and software, and this will probably lead to unexpected problems. But when they've been ironed out, subsequent films should be cheaper and alot faster to finish up. So we might not have to wait until 1997.

Only way I remembered was that it was something involving 1997 which I guess was the "Second coming fo Christ" year for Star Wars fans. So do you think there should be nine parts and how? Answer in regards to the poll options and please explain your answer ;) I think that Timothy Zahn is a genius and needs a medal.. If I had to sit through a movie set that rivals the LotR SE trilogy this is how I'd want it.. Episode 1 -Phantom Menace (Short - Intro to series?) + Outbound Flight Episode 2 -Attack of the Clones + Revenge of the Sith Episode 3 -ANH + ?? Episode 4 -Empire Strikes Back + Shadows of the Empire 1/2 Episode 5 -Shadows of the Empire 2/2 + Return of the Jedi Episode 6 -Dark Forces II (Book + Game 1/2) Episode 7 -Dark Forces cont'd Episode 8 -Heir to the Empire + Dark Force Rising 1/2 Episode 9 -Dark Force Rising 2/2 + The Last Command Dang figuring the timelines on that sucked.. Anyway so what's everyone think?
I don't want 9 parts unless the last 3 actually had some decent acting and were relevant to the story.
I'm not going to be one of those "STOP RUINING TEH STAR WARZ" people, I'm not idolizing the series to the extent that I think no matter how good they would be that they wouldn't stack up to the originals, I'm just going to say that chances are good that they would fail, and they could very well be the equivalent of the Godfather 3 for the Star Wars saga.
I'm cool with the old films as they are - I wouldn't want them to be butchered by half-assed casting and bad direction. Only good new one was III, I think, and if that's any indicator, bleh.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few more, if they are relavant to the story. You couldn't really have a continuation without clones of the original actors in their more youthful years.
Hence the possibility of a remake.. Put aside director.. Imagine a world where George Lucas hasn't been tainted by modern film society and there was a chance they could be as good as the books :P
Thrawn Trirolgy would be wicked, seeing it from Lucas's spin, seeing him made by ILM, and LucasFilms.
Lets keep the 6 movies intact. Its done and done.
I'd be fine with a Thrawn trilogy, since Zahn is already has that "Star Warsy" feel to his books. Really, cut some lines to make it not so long/boring, add in the acting and special effects, and you've almost got it. Zahn captures the feel of the original trilogy and the personalities of the characters really well. But as for remaking 4-6? Nope. I don't want them to turn into another TPM, with more special effects than good acting/good lines.
I didn't make it!
Thrawn would kick soooo much ass it is ridiculous. So yes, I think they should make three more, but of course only if Lucas doesn't direct.
Also, I would love to see more EU non-main characters works. Books and T.V. shows and movies set in the Star Wars Galaxy but not connected to the main characters. Things about smugglers and mercenaries and individual units from the various military groups and such. Basically, I want to see more of the Star Wars galaxy explored, as I think it is a very under-explored setting.
thrawn would be the only reason star wars fabs would see it, if thrawns in there, you can count every single one of us is in the theaters whatching them lawlz
9 would be good but, the cast would be bad, you can't get the original characters and the voices would be different, and everyoen will be like "BAH! the voices suck" stick with 6, though 9 would be unbelievably amazing.
