Aberdeen map not installing. This is wierd, it is a self installer and it does not load. When I start the game, it is not in the map list. Is that because it is only a multiplayer map, so it is only avalible when online? Or is something messing up. I am running BF 1.31
Thanks for any help
As Apocalypse Kid mentioned in another post the maps actual name is "Operation Aberdeen" in the map list. Are you sure you didnt miss it? I only ask this because I scrolled past it about 10 times when I first installed it and went to play it.

I was hoping I was just a dumbas and missed it. I guees I am not:D It is not there. This sucks. I have seperate profiles, could that do it? Hmm, wierd:confused:
Seperate profiles wouldnt matter. Are you trying to use it with D.C. or another mod activated? It doesnt work with the mods but Im pretty sure it would still be in the list. Is C: the drive your game is on and that your installing to? Thats all I can come up with for now. Maybe you should d/l it again and retry the install.

I have no other mods installed. It does not give me an option to select drives. I am assuming it is installeing it on my D drive, where my game is. I will try downloading it again, but first I am going to see if it installed elsewhere on my computer. Wierd:confused:
Aha, I think we have found the problem. The installer defaults to your C: drive and I dont see any way to redirect it. This might work though if youve got room on you c: drive(you do have a c; drive dont you?)
Im assuming you O.S. and programs file is on c: If not then you just have to make some minor changes to the paths. Go to D: and find your game install. Copy the entire bf1942 file. Go to C:/Program Files/EA Games and paste bf1942 into it. (if you dont have these folder on c: just make them) Now reinstall the map and it should work this time. Next step instead of copying the whole file back to d: just go into bf1942 find the mods folder, copy it and paste it over your old one back on D:. Delete the BF1942 file thats on C: since you dont need it anymore. Your map should work now. I really dont know if this is worth all the effort, I didnt think the map was that good, lol.
There is probably a much easier way to do this but I havent slept in along time and to be honest my brain shut down a couple hours ago. This will work though, post if you have any problems.
This just occured to me. How did you patch your game to 1.31 if its installed on D:? All the EA patch and map installers default to C: with no way to redirect. You might wanna consider doin a clean install of the game back to C: if you can. It might save you some considerable headaches in the future.

Ya, I have a C drive. Umm I do not think that is it. I have never had a problem like that before, every games default is C. (Well almost) Um I said screw it I am not going to waste my time. I don't like tanks any ways;) Really though it pisses me off somewhere on my computer is about four aberdeen maps that loaded somewhere else. EA can fix it not me. I am going to regedit that crap out of there. Luckily I monitored the first one with cleansweep. O well would have been nice HMM not really, I will load Desert Combat instead:D
Minus one from EA in my book Well we will see
Hi all and ditchhopper,
The installer actually pulls the BF installation info from your registry to install Aberdeen, in my case it put it correctly into E: drive.
I suspect that [8E] Bad ConNecTioN has already stumbled on the correct answer.
When I start the game, it is not in the map list. Is that because it is only a multiplayer map, so it is only avalible when online?
Yes it is only a multiplayer map and will not appear in single player or co-op mode. If you want to check it out start a multiplayer conquest game and it should appear as "Operation Aberdeen" in the map list, you'll be the only one in there there but at least you will be able to see it.
have fun

That's how it's worked for me. It's in my multiplayer list, and I can join hosts using Aberdeen, but it's not listed under single player. ;)
