I have a 256kbps connection speed, and usually get 18-38kbps on downloads, even when there is very low traffic:mad:. So I am wondering is there anything free at all to boost my download speeds? PLEASE HELP ME

Flashget is another Download accelerator, and I've been using it for about 2 years now, and it even works on some of the anti-leech sites! :moon: Go here to get it--->www.amazesoft.com/:deal:

Just make sure your Cable Modem is hooked up to your computer using your Ethernet Network Card, DO NOT go through USB.

I've heard lots of people say that....but on the 3 different computers running cable I've seen....there was really no difference between USB and ethernet. (Now please dont flame me unless you have some kind of proof, then I'll admit I'm wrong if I am:p ) I may have it all wrong, but with what I seen....there really is no difference, and I'm talking actual internet download speed, not a bunch of funky numbers or whatever computer nerds measure it with;)

USB has a certain point where it can't transfer anymore data per second just like anything else. The best you are going to get with USB is around 600kb/sec while on ethernet you can get up to 100000kb/sec. Now of course your modem is capped through your ISP so whatever they cap it at ... ethernet will be able to handle. Go buy the $10 NIC, a $.25 6-foot CAT-5, and do it... it is worth it

BTW in case anyone doesn't know what that boils down to...

USB 75 KB/sec download Ethernet 10MB/sec download

Woah Woah Woah Woah....wait a minute. So what your saying is, despite the fact I have ADSL at 576kbps, I can only actually utilize 70kbps of that because of a USB modem, which was supplied by onetel my supplier. So what your telling me is, they're actually pulling a skank on us, be giving us 576kbps, but only really giving us 70kbps. Is that correct?
