i usually get around 20-40 fps in a server of 24 players.... but when i get into heavy fighting action... i.e planes tanks etc my fps drops right down to 8 fps at times...
my specs are
Athlon 1.2 thunderbird 40gb H/d 1 gig of SD-ram gforce 4 mx 440 (medium settings 1024x768) sounblaster pci (settings @ 22hz high quality hardware acceleration on 31 channels) windows xp professional direct x 9 Service pack 1 and all hot fix updates... all latest drivers nviida 43.03 or whatever just released and sound drivers up-2-date
see attachment for my fps screenshot... i was wondering if people had any fixes for improving fps apart from obvious graphics down and sound i have done this and doesnt effect gameplay a great deal.. any tips or comments apprectiated...
Nvidia released 44.03 drivers last week and said to have a 30% increase in performance. What you can do is uninstall your video card and uninstall the drivers. Install the 44.03 drivers and uninstall DX9.0 as its only for ATI and Geforce FX series video cards. DX 9.0 might be the cause of your fps being so low. IM not the expert on computers i just know from personal experiences with the GF MX series. It might be time to buy a new video card. Do a search on google for DX9.0 uninstaller. Hope this helps. Btw if you want to uninstall your drivers i found a nice little app to delete all drivers from the registry and etc etc.
ill try getting rid of direct x 9 i installed it because people were saying it improved there performance ... o well..
and yes i have already done that graphic drivers mate as i already have the 44.03 drivers..
I have a p3 1.0 ghz with a nvidia geforce4 mx440 64 and it runs fine for me, and your specs are above mine so I doubt it is your video card. contary to what people think, the mx cards are not really all that bad, just not all that great
I have gone back to direct x 8.1 and no difference... i think its time to buy a new system... do u think the listed pc below would run battlefield on all high settings 1600x1200 max grahphics and sound and get really good fps?? its an alienware pc...

Better then what you have now.
well i just dont want a better system i want an excellent system for playing games on...
what would u recommend i get then? if its only better!!? not sarcastic just want to now how i could improve that?
i heard the fx ge forces suck, stick with the ti series.
I have a FX 5200 ultra and it doesnt suck. Dont believe everything people tell you online.
Having fun? The FX 5200 ultra will give you good FPS around 60+ and DX9 compatibility if that is what you want. What are you comparing it to berm when you say it sucks? It's basically the MX of the FX series, a budget priced card for ppl who don't have $400 ($800AU)to spend on the latest vid card.
Now whothedaddy, your FPS suck big time, it may be your CPU dragging you down a bit, but that much? I doubt it, however your CPU can make a big difference in some cases. I played a while on a friends puter, which is identical to mine apart from the CPU, he has a athlon 1600, mine is 2200, and noticed that he had some FPS probs compared to mine.
I have Athlon XP 2200+, 1 Gb DDR 2700, GF4 MX440, SB Live 5.1 PCI, DX9 and get 50+ FPS no matter what over the net. I run in 800X600 which is below yours but I would rather slightly poorer graphics than slow FPS. Even in a co-op game with 64 bots I can get between 40 and 60 FPS.
Your Alienware PC looks good and has the right specs, but I think you could build the equivelent yourself for half the price, maybe it won't be funky green but you can save yourself big bucks.
