Okay, while many folks on here seem to have random crashes to desktop or freezes while updating servers, my multiplayer nightmare is something that seems right in the middle. I will be happily playing in a random map for anywhere from 5 minutes to 15, when all of a sudden I get a "Warning! Connection Problems Detected" message across the screen, freeze-up, and get booted from the server. At first, I figured it was just a picky server or random kicks, but it's been happening since I installed the 1.31 patch. I'm on a broadband connection, have run every conceivable diagnostic test on my modem, network card, replaced the ethernet cable, and have reseated my RAM (1 Gig of 333MHZ DDR). I've reset my BIOS to optimum, updated my drivers for my MOBO, Hercules Game Theater, and Radeon, and STILL these "crashes" occur. I realize others have the straight "Clean" crash, but does anyone get this message and the boot?

Hi Horrorview,

I susect this is a very common problem. I get it sometimes. I can join a server and get kicked after 5 minutes, then rejoin the same server and play for over an hour with no problems. I suspect the netcode is still a bit buggy in places.

I have no other problems with BF apart from that. (in fact compared to most ppl I have a remarkably problem free BF experience, but perhaps that's only cause I prowl the problem and help forum? Many ppl outside the forums probably have a good experience also)

Anybody else?

Cheers Mate!

Do you find this net bug has worsened with the new patch? I have been playing the game since it was releases last year, and had only sporadically encountered the error, but now it's a daily (multiple daily!!) problem :(

Hiya,

No, it actually seems better to me than it was, not happening as often now as it used to.

Cheers

Damn, not only am I getting disconnected, I'm now getting occasional "corrupt data" messages!! This only happens in DC, however. So my guess is DC and 1.31 are a bad match!

Hey, instead of making another expansion, maybe they oughta fix the original multiplayer code?!

This happens to me occasionally but only when the server becomes overloaded and everyones pings are goin sky high. Are you lookin for servers with low pings to play on? Hittin that little ping button does wonders for me. I dont even try to go into a server if my ping is over 250 anymore.

Oh yea, I always search for servers by ping. I never enter any higher than 150. I usually look for 100 or less. The thing is I always check what my ping is and I show up at around 90, so my modem, at least, says I'm a-ok! Then I get the WARNING CONNECTION PROBLEMS crap and boom! Kicked! I've optimized, defragged, reseated components, swapped out memory from my server computer, REPLACED my ethernet card, and reset my BIOS, CMOS, and still I can't play for more than 10 to 20 minutes at a time. It's DEFINITELY something wrong with the 1.31 patch, possibly combined with a Desert Combat .02 issue. When DC .03 comes out this weekend I wonder if the net code fixes will help???
