About the time I put the 1.2 patch on, I've started to get this error saying 'Cannot Locate Cd-Rom' 'Please insert the correct cd-rom and restart' Yes, I have bought the game and the disc has not done this before it started. Oddly when I turn on my computer, sometimes it works. Then it will try to reload a new map and that error will come up again on the loading screen, closing the game and from then I get the error. I can explore the disc at any time still, just not run the game. Other discs DO seem to work ok in the drive, and my orig cd is not dirty (yet). I'm thinking it might be the cd-rom drive is dying on me so I'll try my new one when it gets here. Any help til then would be nice tho. Thx

In the meantime you can try this nocd patch Its at the bottom of the page.

Or try this nocdpatch [NoOdLe]I'm sorry but we have a no-warez policy, i know it will help him out, and he could find one himself, but we can't carry links to stuff like that...[/NoOdLe] I respect your will mighty moderator. Btw I use one myself cause my damn brother stole my disc.:(

Good luck:)

Ok, I might try that then and I'm sure those are easy to find anyways. To be honest, this cd-rom is probably very cheapo as I still havent been able to find out the manufacturer ANYWHERE on the drive. XP just assigns it some generic driver. My new one will be an Acer so atleast I can get the right drivers this time and then I'll know wether my cd-rom is to blame or not. It's too bad anyone should have to go to warez tho with a problem from a game they purchased. (Btw I remember in college somewhere that when you buy software, your technically still not owning it just buying the license to use it, might not be true with games tho, I dont know) Well thx for the help tho again! :)

Hi Maestro4202,

I browse these forums a lot and I can tell you that you're not alone, this happened to quite a few gamers after they installed the 1.2 patch, the current theory is that the problem is caused by the safedisc copy protection and certain brands of cd drives and the software changes to in the exe file to try and stop copying. The noCD patch will almost certainly fix your problem.
