I am having a problem with the dedicated server. It is version 1.1. The server is visible and reports all the necessary information to my other pc, but when I try joining it, it says connecting to IP address of server and then kicks me back to the local server page with a message box saying error - disconneced from server. If anyone can help I would be very greatful.

i too have problems hosting a server in my campus. my friends and i played the multiplayer(non-upgrade) demo with no problems. They lived in another campus (same uni), kinda like WAN connection or something (e.g my campus ip 20.5.47.X, friends ip 20.0.24.X). i always create internet games, & they only have to do is add my ip into theirs. And we bought the full retail version right after it hit the shelves, upgrade to version 1.1, i host a game (both dedicate & non-dedicate) & all i can see is the message "Lt. Kip joining the axis". same to all my friends. They say that they got disconnected 4 secs after connecting. this doesnt happen in the demo (i didnt try the demo patch yet). My friend create a server too, but no joy. Only ppl from the same campus that can join the game. I hope you guys fixes this. Otherwise we all going to stick back to CS again.

ps. we cant connect to any internet games (except host by us) coz the uni have firewall & block all the uneccesary ports.

I just had the same problem... my server shows up in list, but I get disconnected every time. Double checked I had the listed ports forwarding and unblocked. I did. Did a netstat and found my answer. Port 14690 is listening. That port is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation. After forwarding & unblocking that port to my server, HAL Server - FF off (cheap plug), it worked and I can connect.

ANSWER: Undocumented port 14690 needs to be forwarded/mapped/allowed/etc.

My configuration: -Running 50.0mb Battlefield 1942 Stand Alone Sever v1.1 -NATed network -Detect IP automatically (setting it to my public IP made it not work) -Default port 14567 -Friendly Fire OFF damn it!
