Ok, I installed all of those and the problem still occurs. Any other suggestions?

Hi Grimmadog,

Did you install any other mods, patches or maps for the game?

At the moment if it still doesn't work after getting the latest DirectX drivers etc I can only suggest un-installing (then deleting the "EA Games/Battlefield 1942" game folder) and re-installing vanilla BF and testing without any patches or anything else installed. It may be a buggy patch or something and starting from scratch may help to track it down.

Another thing, WindowsXP shouldn't require the refresh rate unlocker if you are using the latest Nvidia drivers cause a fix for that problem is built into them.

Good luck

Ok I found the problem.

First I reinstalled like you said and that didn't work. Then I figured that it had to be the refresh rate unlocker like you suggested. I uninstalled it and the game runs now.

Thanks everyone for your help, it's much appreciated.

P.S. I thought that refresh rate unlocker in the NVIDIA drivers works only for D3D and not OpenGL, does it work for OpenGL too?
