Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone else has a problem logging onto populated servers. I get disconnected as the map loads from one of my two computers. The other computer can log on and play just fine. The problem one has it's own, unique store bought cd keys. Both computers get onto the net through my linksys router/hub. The problem computer can log onto empty or near empty servers. When it does, it's ping shows a zero but it plays fine with no lag. The other computer shows it's ping normally. On the roblem computer when I bypassed the router and hooked directly through the cable modem I could get onto any server and could see my ping as normal, so I believe that the problem exists between the computer's on-system-board 3Com NIC and the linksys router, but I am not sure. The router has upgraded firmware, the version of the game is the latest (SW install). I have reset the router and the cable modem, and updated the NIC's drivers to the latest. I'm pulling my hair out here! Thanks in advance.

I understand your pain.. I am having the same problem with bf1942, the only diffrence is that my ping shows up fine. I can't login to any servers that have people in them, however if i log into an empty one others can join. I have no idia what it can be. I am going to try without the routor and see what happens. note that bf1942 is the only game i am having problems with.

I'm right here with you guys! I have an Asus K8V deluxe mb w/ an integrated 3Com 10/100/1000 NIC. I also have a Linksys DSL router. As soon as I installed the new mb, the server disconnects started happening. Same place every time, it's trying to attach to a populated server, the map load screen get 80% the way through, then I see the 'server disconnect' message. Let me know if removing the Linksys solved your issues.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I have used routers in the past and have experienced problems with them when more than one computer tries to join the same game server. It was actually with a linksys router SwampYankee, and seems to be a problem with the DHCP on the router, we got around it by disabling DHCP and assigning the computer IP adresses manually. Once we had done that the computers all connected fine, where previously we could only all connect as long as we were connecting to DIFFERENT servers, but not the same server.

I would suggest the other guys try the same thing, manually assigning the IP addresses, this is the system I am using at the moment and never have any problems with it, although I currently have a seperate computer running SUSE Linux as my router, not a dedicated hardware router.

Good luck guys

You know, come to think of it, I never had any of these problems prior to installing patch 1.45. I was using the Linksys the entire time. I can also join servers that aren't "all that populated", say if there are 4 or less people on the server I'm good to go. With this in mind I seriously doubt that this is a router issue, this is more like a patch 1.45 connectivtity glitch. If it were related to the router I would expect to see a problem attaching to any server, not just populated servers ... my hope rests in patch 1.5 - may it come soon and be BUG FREE!

Good news!... download linksys firmware version: 1.45.7 from Jul 31 2003. it did the trick for me and i can login 100% of the time. :)

note: I did disale DHCP and assignied the computer IP adresses manually before the update, but I belive the update alone will solve the problem.

good luck all, I'll reporte any further findings as I do more testing tomarrow. I am now going to reinable DHCP and run more login attempts.

Hi guys, sorry to take so long to post this, but I believe that I have found a fix for those of you that have Linksys routers. Re-install the OLDER driver for your Linksys router , this one (for the BEFSR41):

Firmware Date : December 13, 2002 Current Firmware : Version 1.44.2z Product PartNo : BEFSR11/BEFSR41/BEFSRU31

I did this and it worked for me. I have notified Linksys (who seemed to care) and EA Games (who did not).

Good luck, and please let me know if this works!

Linksys fixed the problem with the 1.45.7 patch from Jul 31 2003 as far as my research proves, 1.45.6 had and out of synic problem that I looked up on other boards. 1.45.7 and 1.44.2z will both fix the problem, 1.45.7 seems stable from what I am seeing on message boards and from useing it, But if your version is not broke don't update it. anyway have fun playing :)

Whoa! You guys rock! I updated to firmware rev. 1.45.7 and I can attach to any servers in BF1942 I want. Thanks for the information. Pretty weird that I never had the issues prior to BF1942 patch v1.45. Oh well. Thanks again!
