I need a little help.
I got the flying under control however I don't seem to hit anything :(.
Like the torpedo's. That's just dumping them in the water in the right angle and the torpedo does the rest. Well that's what I thought but after loosing all my torpedo's the damn ship wouldn't sink!
How many torpedo's does it take to sink a ship?
Then when I attack land targets then I don't seem to hit anythink either. I tried tanks, stationairy airplanes etc. etc... Nothing.
Now I was online the today and one guy (or girl) kept hitting tanks etc. etc. every darn time :dropsjar:. So I must be doing something wrong.
Can someone tell me how to aim my bombs so they will hit the target
Also I find it hard to find my way while flying on the map. I have a hard time discovering tanks and enemy troops in general. Any tips on that would be apriciated.
Any other tips on flying, are welcome too

Most people really struggle with bombing. I admit that it is quite tricky and becoming good at it takes A LOT practice. A good place to start is to practice bombing stationary targets and watch the trajectory of your bomb with the forward chase-cam [pull up vertical after you drop the bomb to see where it impacts].
I've heard this and that about the torpedo plane being better to sink the carrier, but I disagree... Unless my torpedos were striking the hull in the wrong spot, (dropped them in water & I heard them strike) it just takes too long and too many passes. Grab the Dauntless (Bomber) and approach the carrier from one of it's ends (meaning lengthwise). Slow down to a near stall and you should be able to get 3 separate bombing strikes on each pass. Carrier will sink with 2 passes! (6 ordinance releases, 12 bombs total) Assuming no-one is defending the carrier, (and usually no-one is) you can sink it in under a minute. I've done it in about 30-35 seconds! As a bonus, you'll still have enough ordinance to blow up the destroyer as well, though it takes a little longer than the carrier! Test it in a LAN game if you want, it works great!
Thanks for the reply. I will set up a non dedicated server on my computer and just start making thise runs....:uhoh:

I know how you feel... Some people I just see the plane and like a sec later I see bomb... Then I see select spawn point..:uhm:
Doesn't that suck though. I mean watta ya gonna do? Shoot 'm out of the air? You can't. unless you just happen to be operating an air defense gun, and you don't because there's not enough airplanes in the game to make a decent score. Yeah, yeah I know it's a TEAM effort, and how's there's no I in team but you know what? Having a great big 0 behind your name does hurt the pride a little.
So what do you do if you can't beat them...? Damn straight! You join them.
But I did took his mexmadman's advice and got myself a little training and though I haven't hit anything yet :( I do get close enough to scare the shit out of them ;).
What I was doing wrong was dropping the bombs way (and I mean way) too late. I found that out by looking how the bomb dropped. I put the nose cam under my joystick button 3 and as soon as I drop the bomb I hit the nose cam and that way it is very easy to analyze your mistakes. (thanks Mexmadman :bows: ) as I said after about 15 minutes the bombs started creeping closer and closer to what I actually was trying to hit.
So spyder do like I did and set yourself up a lan game and start practicing those runs.
See ya up there :lookaround:
And dont forget they dont call em dive bombers for nothing. Make sure you dive in at your target at 45 degrees or more for best accuracy. This dive will also allow you to gun down any one who tries to shoot you from on top of tanks and apcs with your machine guns. Also dont forget to use your nose cam, makes flying and bombing a lot easier. Generally when you come in at 45 degrees you release when target is about to leave bottom of your field of view when nose cam is activated. As for torpedos, these are damn near impossible as you must be right off of the water when you release them or they will just sail right on under your target. Now whats really fun is playing a mod where you got b17s and carriers, and lots of bombs one pass and glub glub. Now I'm off to see if I can create a nuke.
And btw in 1.2 if you aim just right(engine) you can shoot down a plane with browning rifle. Just sit in a door way and pop off a couple of rounds at a time, not full auto. If they try and bomb you duck inside. Usually 2-3 clips will do it.

Another thing that perhaps go without saying, remove your ****pit in ****pit view by pressing F9 (default). Voilá, now you only got the crosshair... :agreed: Just don't forget the machineguns whom are also quite capable on all sorts of targets. Another trick is to ease back on the throttle while diving on a target, this gives you a bit more time to get the job done.
Best of luck... /Cubase
