I was just playing it last night, now when I click my shortcut the splash screen comes up like normal then my cd-drive goes into full swing and that's it, I never leave my desktop. I checked my task manager under processes and when I click the bf1942 icon bf1942.exe shows up then dissapears. Weird. I am running WindowsXP btw and all drivers are updated.
Have you downloaded any custom levels or mods lately? If they are not installed correctly they will do exactly what you have described. Specially check you levels folder for subdirectories, it shouldn't have any, and any mods to make sure they are 1.2 ver and not 1.1.

I used the new GMake RFA to pack some new sounds. I just added some of my own sounds to the sound.rfa installed by the Damage 1.1 sound pack. I replaced the one included with the mod with my custom version. Here is where I put it:
bf1942 >> Mods >> >> Damage >> Archives >> sound.rfa
Since the Damage sound mod works fine I figured adding my own stuff to the rfa and repacking it back in the same place would work.
It's quite possible that the GMake RFA didn't replace the internal structure of the RFA file correctly and misplaced the textures. I would suggest uninstalling and then reinstalling over the top of the old game to get things back together.

look for a dir in the sounds dir, sometimes when u unarchive a file it makes it's own directory inside the dir u unpacked it to and BF don't like it.. I had same when installing a map....remove dir and place files u correct dir and it'll be ok...
Nevermind I just wasnt using the RFA Maker correctly. I know this has nothing to do with bf1942 but is there any way I can edit a wav to increase its bitrate?
