That is the same problem I had. I bought the game on DAY ONE :D and up till last week it ran great. Then it would run for 10-15 min then lock up. So I checked things out and it was my new ATI drivers. I rolled back to the old one. Runs like a charm again. Plus then new drivers scewed up SOF2 and a few other games. Looks like ATI dropped the ball on the new drivers.

So Check NVida to make sure that you have the same drivers that you did last time.

On my other PC I have the 30.82 drivers for my GF4 420MX Plus.:smokin:

hope this helps

First of all try slowing down with reformatting a bit and look for other reasons. If it didn't work the first four times you reformatted what made you think it was gonna work the fifth time? I'm not being nasty here, but reformats won't fix anything if it's a software conflict.

Make sure that you have the motherboard drivers installed and get the drivers from nvidia itself not chaintech. Oh, and make sure you have the drivers for the correct version windows. If it still locks up then consider some other solutions, such as low virtual mem (If you have set it yourself let windows handle for now), software running in the background (microsoft Messenger is a known villain for this sort of thing) etc. Try running you machine as clean as possible, no background tasks like firewalls, antivirus, yahoo or MS messenger, ICQ, even custom keyboard and mouse drivers. All you should see when you press ctrl/alt/del is explorer and systray. If it starts working then try enabling your necessary software one app at a time.

Once you've done that and got everything running just right get hold of a copy of Norton Ghost and creat a binary image of your boot drive, believe me it's a lot quicker and easier than reformatting multiple times.

Hope this helps

Hi lilking1300,

Could you be more specific on your motherboard I couldn't find it on Asus's site. The only mobo reference I could find was an old one using a K6-3 CPU, I didn't think they went to 1Ghz.

Hi lilking1300,

That's just what I thought. According to the spec sheet it will only take a K6 up to 350Mhz (550 K6-2 for the B revision I believe, you probably have this one, although the K6-2 CPU is probably getting a bit long in the tooth for BF) and a Pentium up to 233. This is well under the recommended supported speed for the game. Are you using any overclocking or suchlike to get your processor running up to required speed? Also your AGP slot only supports up to 2X AGP. I personally would consider it fortunate just to get the game running under such circumstances, let alone playable for even a few minutes. I would strongly suggest a mobo/cpu/memory upgrade if you intent to play BF1942 over the long term. Also being an old Mobo you may find a bios upgrade on Asus's site that will help with some of your problems.

I have checked the Asus site and they do have some downloads available for you mobo, it might be an idea to grab those and see if they help. You will find your mobo in this list:

http://download.asus.com.tw/mb_alllist.asp

Hope you get it going.
