I have a few odd problems:
1. BF1942 is choppy only when I play via the internet. It doesn't matter if my ping is 30 or 100, it's choppy. It's not unplayable but very annoying. It also has a tendancy to not want to go the direction I am turning with the mouse and will return to the previous direction. Probably associated with the slight choppiness.
2. My ping times are all over the place. Some times in the 400's sometimes in the 30's. Usually varying between 30-150. Ofcourse it depends on the server I use but doing a trace route shows that my ping here is VERY low and according to DSL reports I'm getting 450+kbps upload and 120+/-kbps download.
The only thing I recal changing prior to this was upgrading to the 1.31 patch. Anyone else have this problem? I'm getting SICK of it since it's been about two weeks. Thanks in advance!
first of all what os do you have. i have heard that the windows xp system wiil cause lag for no reason. and also i have heard it has to do with sound issues. and the bad news is there is nothing you can really do about it:fistpunch:
The net code for Bf1942 hasnt been right from day 1. I have a Amd atholon Xp2200+ 1.8 Ghz 512 mb ram and GF4ti4200 and my pings are below 100 and yet i have problems too. If i was dice id get a better net code because i never had this problem on mohaa and spearhead. :cya:
Opps! Shoulda posted that info in the first place. I am using Windows 2000.
I tried lowering the sound and it didn't seem to do a thing. Maybe it never will help. Odd thing is the game worked great a couple weeks ago.
For some reason I think I am still experiencing connection problems, still looking into it.
if it worked a couple weeks ago....then, i think you need to do the inevitable, reinstall. It most likely will work fine, just try it....
I did a complete game reinstall and even a complete OS install, but to no avail. My ping has started timing out running trace routes (although by download and upload are awesome) so I belive it is the connection still. My friend in the same appartment complex is having similar problems with her internet connection.
I don't spend enough time here

do you share an internet connection? even if I have low pings..when my roommate is hogging the connection I get some stuttering like you described. Sometimes unplugging him fixes it;)
Internet connection is not shared. When I used to share it I was able to play BF1942 on my computer and my brother on his over the same conenction with not stuttering.
As an unpdate, the problem seems to have finally subsided after 2 weeks. I am not convinced it is my Cable provider having issues that they don't know how to resolve correctly. Let's see how long it last...
i live in muncie indiana,, whic is a BIG college town. Every one and their mother has cable internet that lives off campus from comcast and it SUCKS. You have to buy their premeir service to get any kind of performance. A friend of mine, that lives off of campus, has cable, and he was having the same problem you are describing. However, he called comcast and complained and got it fixed (more bandwith), buit the people around him still had shitty connections. So, maybe its the same, maybey its not, i dont know, cant hurt to call though.
