I've been having issues with BF 1942 running really slow on my computer (single-player). I'm running a 1.4Ghz, GF2 GTS and it shouldn't be running as slow as it is, and I mean REALLY slow. I can't get past Iwo Jima because of this lag. I dropped some of the settings to medium and changed a few things on my computer to get better performance (as suggested by other players), but it has only made the game slow even more. What is wrong with it?

Whats your RAM, Colse off Most Backround Aplications Before Starting BF1942, and Try Dropping Your Audio to 22hrz with 22 Channels with sound Detail at medimum, most of the time Ram is the Problem, although the book sugests 256 is mimimum, i think 512 is the Bare Bones Minimum

I would die without GF

running really slow on my computer (single-player)

I have been through this several times with other ppl who don't realise the essential difference betweeen single and multi player. Most of the slowness in single player is not lag caused by video or sound or bandwidth limitations, it's caused by the bots. If you have 63 bots with the AI set even medium high it will slow your machine to a crawl. Keep in mind that the bot AI is being calculated by the CPU for lots of bots at the same time. On my machine Athlon XP2000+ 63 bots and me with AI up high will slow it down to unplayable levels. Reduce the number of bots, reduce the amount CPU time allocated to the bots and it will run better.

Of course on a multiplayer game the CPU doesn't have to do any calculation for the bots, all it need it gets over the internet and just makes suere things are in the right place and sends your info out to the server.

have fun
