For me, I just expect that my computer runs, and runs well with many games. That is what satisfies me.
The kinds of speed differences you blowholes are arguing about is laughable. 90 outta 100 people would never be abled to visibly tell the difference between a game played on an ATI and one on a GeForce.
Add in the superior driver support through Nvidia. And my own personal experiences of friends with ATI cards having far more problems running games then I have ever had with my Geforce.
One might be faster then the other in particular tests but those advantages are negligible in the real world and the important reliability and longer term support adavantages go to Nvidia.
I'll take 3-5fps less hell even 10 fps less if it means every game I load will play out of the box and not require some homespun "fix" to make it work with my graphics card.
I'm a Nvidia user, and i respect ATI and Nvidia. Do you know what i hate? You buy the top of the line card, everything goes well. Then the other company (ATI for example)makes a new card, then (Nvidia) will make an even better card blah blah blah. Next thing you know, your card is behind! It's no longer the top of the line! Yes, maybe it can hold out for a while, hell i had a GeForce 2 MX 200 (didn't even have a heatsink lmfao) until like 2 months ago. So... is shitty, ain't it? As for competition between ATI and Nvidia, ATI are usually faster, but a bit buggy (drivers and 3D viewing). I see why ATI user's r pissed at Nvidia users, but i also notice that ATI user's are just as bad. Why fight over a card that may be more faster than another? Why am i posting? God doesn't even know that one... I use a GeForce FX 5900 XT, maybe not the best, but i got it for 300$, i was debating that or a 9600 Pro, same priced, but my Uncle (who knows alot about this stuff) showed me this graph: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/digest3d/1103/itogi-video-ssam-w2k-p4-1600.html Hell i wasn't about to spend like 600$ or more for a card, i just wanted something still up to date. Conclusion: Get a life! Don't spend friday nights looking at Video Card specs! What's wrong with you?!
i got a radeon 9600 for 30 bucks and my bfv settings are set to high! MUAHAH and i have a crappy athlon to. =p
i like ati and nvidia but scroll down this page and look at the memory data rate on this and check the other specs :P
Ive got a 9800 pro YEEYAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
Yalll should see how battlefield vietnam and far cry runs!
you guys should see the new 3d engine: Unreal engine 3.0 . it is sooo nice. runs only on DirectX 9.0 or later. games that use this engine: Splinter Cell and Unreal Tournament 2004. i'd rather use ATI's cards for my games. with that price, i get more stuff than nVidia.
