I got the sound mod and put it where it belongs, i then edited the init.con and in the game the sounds are all the same. Im thinking im not putting the folder in the right place. Oh, and are you supposed to rename the folder from HAD to Sounds.:(

WHat i did was extracted the sound rfa to my hard drive being C:

I then extracted the sound wavs from gunslingers sound mod into the new sound folder on my hard drive. I put the sounds in my C:/program files/ea games/ bf1942 folder. I now have a sound mod folder called sound. The old sound rfa i put somewhere else. Sorry if this doesnt make sense i just got home from a 12 hour shift and im tired. Extract the sound rfa to c then extract his sound mod into the sound folder on c. :cya:

If you have Merciless installed you need to put the sounds.rfa in the Mods/MC1942/Arhives folder. Backup the old file just in case.

My init.con

game.setCustomGameName BF1942 game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/MC1942_BloodFX/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/ game.addModPath Mods/HAD/ game.customGameFlushArchives 0

game.setCustomGameVersion 1.2 game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com" game.setCustomGameInfo "Have fun you dumbass!"

Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik" Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik" Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik" Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik" Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik" Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik"

I don't think you need the game.addmodpath Mods/HAD/ anymore, but i left it just in case.

Well, I need sleeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I cant get the sounds or merciless to work online. I works fine in SP. I activated merciless with the sound mod in it, then joined a server. Everything is normal, no new sounds and no merciless. Maybe if you (VonMeyer) could explain just a lil' bit better what you did to make it work, i could try it your way. Thanks:deal:

Ok i figured it out on my own. Maybe these instructions will help out others. Make a folder named HAD(discriptive initials), place it in your Battlefield1942/mods folder. inside the HAD folder make another named archives. Put the sound.rfa into it. Now go into Battlefield1942/mods/BF1942 and locate an init.con file. open it in notepad and add this line "game.addModPath Mods/HAD/" It should look like this:

game.setCustomGameName BF1942

game.addModPath Mods/HAD/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/ game.customGameFlushArchives 0

game.setCustomGameVersion 1.2 game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com" game.setCustomGameInfo "Normal game"

Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik" Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik" Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik" Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik" Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik" Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik"

Notice how that line is above "game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/" That makes it override the normal sounds. You do not need to activate anything. To un-install the sounds, simply delete the HAD folder and remove the line from that init.con. I hope this helps out.:cya:

I seem to be having a similar Problem, im running the v3.7 merciless mod too and after applying the mod as you described it seems to make no difference at all to the game sounds. My init.con varies a little from yours too...this is my init.con without the Extra line added to enable the mod:

game.setCustomGameName BF1942 game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_TexSet/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/MC1942_BloodFX/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_Crosshair/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/

game.setCustomGameVersion 1.2 game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com"

Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik" Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik" Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik" Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik" Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik" Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik"

i noticed im missing a few extra lines that you have and we seem to be running the same version with the same Mods..any idea's ? i,ll keep working on it in the meantime..

Fixed the prob..found out something interesting tho which kinda confirms an earlyier post. The new sound.rfa can be just put straight into the archives folder found in the Merciless-MC1942 folder and there is no need to add that command line to your init.con file to make it work, i tested it in 1 player and Multi-player and had no probs at all, dunno why it didnt work for you straight off Hotshot..altho it may have been searching for an incorrect path to the sound.rfa if you added the extra command line in your init.con file..heh anways cool beanz it works and the sounds are sweet.;)

I think it wasnt working online because i had changed the objects.rfa in merciless. But i did it this way so that you dont have to activate merciless to get the super terrific sounds. Yesterday i played omaha beach and was on the allied side. about 6 of us were on a higgins and the new sounds of the bullets wizzing by were so great, it felt like the real thing.
