I can't believe I am upgrading my PC for ONE game that doesn't run quite as well as my others...LOL Anyway, I am looking for yor opinions: I just ordered a 128mb Radeon 9000 pro to replace my 64mb GeForce2 mx400, and I am replacing my puny 250 watt power supply with a 400 watt one. My system will then be: Win ME AMD Athlon 950 384mb ram 128mb Radeon 9000 pro Creative SB Audigy gamer sound card This PC starts up with 91 free resources..runs VERY well. Will this configuration work well for Battlefield? Man..I sure hope it is ...I am now broke......... Thanks! insp-clouseau

DO NOT GET THE RADEON 9000PRO!!! The Radeon 9000 series was a bad series. It was rushed and is not reliable. Tends to break apart or overheat very easily. I suggest if you want to keep costs low go with the Radeon 8500Pro or 64mb LE models. The 850064mb LE model get's higher FPS than the 128mb model. If you're willing to spend around $200 then you can get a Radeon 9500. They have the 9500 and the 9500PRO. Pro is like $250, $50 more. Plus if you get the 9500 or up those cards all support Direct X 9.0 which all avaliable cards now do not except for Radeon 9500 and up. If you get the 8500 then stick with Direct X 8.1 because if you get 9.0 you'll see a perfomance decrease and glitches. Also you might want to get a Athlon XP 2100 for $100.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply Bond... I already ordered the card, so I figure I'll give it a test drive when it gets here and see how it goes on this PC. This will be as far as I upgrade this thing. My motherboard can only go up to a 1.2 gig Athlon. (According to Gateway anyway) I don't expect miracles with this "old" PC..just want it to run Battlefield better than it is now. Anyone out there that owns this card..I would appreciate ANY advise on this card..(Installation etc..) Also, I have downloaded the 3.0 catalyst driver for it and saved it in my Docs folder til the card gets here. Should I use this driver, or use the one that comes on the install cd? Really appreciate any input on this....... Thanks & Take care insp-clouseau

You see the biggest increase with an upgrade of your CPU and RAM than with a flashy new video card. Don't get me wronge I'd also replace the GeForce 2 mx. I've heard people are running the game okay with a GeForce 4 MX. And they don't cost much.
Anyway that is just my $0.02
Ya Airix, I agree with ya..but like I said..this IS the end of the line for this thing. LOL I tried a 64mb GeForce4MX a while back..but according to PNY, the 250 watt Power supply I had then (Just put in a 400 watt a couple hours ago), caused the card to occasionaly lock-up the PC. I got this radeon for $105.00, only $5 more than the GeForce4 I had returned. I'll get to check it out next Wednesday. I hope this works out ok....... Thanks.... insp-clouseau
