The problem with only being able to format to NTFS is purely a MS WindowsXP thing. With the advent of WindowsXP MS decided that the only disk format available if your disk is larger than 32Gb is going to be NTFS, whether you like it or not! If you want it in another format you will have to use a program like Partition Magic. It will still be usable in WindowsXP. I have three partitions on my HDD, two Fat32 and one NTFS - the NTFS has encrypted and password protected files on, which you can't do with Fat32 with some seperate utiities, but with NTFS WindowsXP can do it natively.
