Okay here's the deal, up until 5 or 6 days ago BF1942 was the regular awesome game that we all know and love and it's like addicting as crack, unfortunately recently my lag has gone completely down the toilet. It started out only at peak hours where all the games (or most) would come up 600-700+ and a few down in the 300-400 range for ping times... after very short amount of time in any of these games it would spike up to 1023 and go back and forth between initial sucky to CONNECTION PROBLEMS DETECTED. I'm on comcast cable modem in the maryland area and I have no idea what the hell is going on... I thought it might just be network traffic but now it's every day at any time during the day I try to play. I deleted and re-installed the game and played with all of the speed settings on the right - always the same crap. Sometimes it will actually load the server list with low ping times but soon after joining the game they turn to crap... has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas??

I got a sound blaster audigy 2 recently and installed it and it was around the same time that this started but I think I remember it working fine with the audigy 2 before all this crap happened... I also seem to get regular pings on normal websites from the ping test at pc pit stop.com (like 100-200, which would be FINE at this point) I'm gettin very frustrated now as I haven't been able to play this great game in almost a week because of this crap... any ideas?

well thats a tough one...i have heard alot of complaints about lag problems in the past few days, but i havent experianced any myself, i always get into great servers. I think you just gotta know what servers to go into, try and go into servers with low pings..that may help out a bit!

if your on cable and you see pings that high their is something major wrong

im on cable 800k/800k and my ping is no higher then 50 in most EA games. It usually runs around 30 most of the time but never went that high for me.

Hi Captain_Dillon,

Here's a suggestion. Instead of pinging regular websites try pinging the actual game servers, you can get the IP address if you are using ASE or something. Also could it be a problem with the master server that checks serial no's, maybe that's having problems?

I have seen a few ppl having this problem before (hell, it even happened to me once playing rtcw), and invariably it was a problem outside their PC, and usually fixed itself after about a week. Mine started returning pings of +2000 for everything over one weekend but by the time Monday came it was right again.

My advice - wait a few days, if it don't clear up hassle your ISP.

Good Luck

okay have taken a few days away from bf1942 so gonna try it again, I actually called the cable company and apparently a few others in my area experienced the problem the guy said that it was on their end but gave me no eta for fixing it, although things SEEM to be better in everything else so I'm guessing it's fixed or being worked on... thanks a lot though for all the helpful suggestions - helped to calm me down some at least hehe
