Ive had the same problem, do you have deset combat .38 installed? ive heard that DC.38 and BF1.4 have been giving lag problems. I finally got so pissed that i uninstalled desert combat. It seems to have helped.

Hi all,

I have 1.4 and DC 0.38d and have no lag problems. How long has the problem been happening, I am wondering if it is an ISP thing, they may be having some problems at the moment with routing and stuff. It may clear up in a few days.

I'm no programmer or anything, but I don't see how DC could effect Vanilla BF. As far as I know it doesn't change any of the network code for vanilla, and when you play vanilla nothing to do with DC is running -- so its very unlikly thats causing the problem.... Who knows though, could be that....

Although, i've noticed while playing DC it lags more, but this is probably because of all the high quality models and any unoptimized things running during the game (I seem to remember DICE saying DC is all messed up internally compared to vanilla BF)

Interesting point. I also remember DICE changing the game structure completely several times and killing all the mods, then not telling them what to do to fix things. Is it a wonder some of them are a bit unwell, maybe the mod makers haven't had time to go through and clear things up yet.

I would certainly expect BF to run a bit laggier than vanilla BF, most of the RFA files are much bigger than vanilla BF .RFA's, there are more higher polly models (choppers etc), more weapons etc.

I still prefer DC to Vanilla myself despite it's teething problems, it is still a beta after all, vanilla BF still has problems and that's supposed to be a funished product.

Have fun

Ive had it about the same time and youre right, it had never ran this crappy before. I usually ping in the 50's or better, and i also have roadrunner as my isp (cable modem). It may be a combination of isp and BF1.4 issues.

apocalypse_kid: Nothing against the DC team, i'd be supprised if they didn't have problems. As you said, Vanilla still has problems and it was made commercially. I'm just saying, together with the models and rfa files that is probably the reason it is more laggy.

ive have the same problem and it started with the install of 1.4 patch and DC .38! now almost cant play an longer beqause of this lag. One important thing that i forgot is that DirectX 9 is causing the worst lag on this planet (it really sucks major), if you have installed it, do a system restore (no uninstaller is availble) to your old DX 8.1!! well its much much better without DX 9 (do not install that junk), but the 1.4 and DC .38 is still causing lagproblems!!
