I formatted my pc cause It was really slow (different story), I reinstalled my BF on my fresh computer and It doesn't work, well I've reinstalled it twice since than and still no luck, what happens is that I will open BF, select a server, when it begins to load it will connect to the host IP, than as soon as it starts loading the map it will get like 1/10 of the way through it than it freeze's and I have to restart my comp. So does anyone know whats happening?
Happens to me sometimes, what i do is cntrl, alt, delete out of game leave game running, close the task manager and open up the game from the toolbar again. seems to kick start the game again and continues to load the board. only thing i can figure out right now.
that happens to me alot but it takes like 5 mins to load my maps really sucks
Do you have a firewall cuz if you do then you have to tell your firewall its O.K. for BF to accsess the internet or else the firewall will stop the program.
If the firewall were to stop it than why would it freeze?
The same exact thing happens to me, and strangely enough i also reformatted my computer. What I do is press the "sleep" button on my keyboard. That somehow wakes up the comp.
There are lots of things that can cause that to happen, but if you really need help then we need to know a little bit about your computer. Hardware, software and Internet connection please, once we have that info we may be able to assist, but at the moment we are working blind.

P4 1.8 ghz 512mb of ram *bad vid card* 32mb intel Cable internet, nice fast connection
I played the game for 4 months before it screwed up. thanks
It sounds like it is almost certainly your Vid card [FRAG]Ape.
None of the Intel Vid cards properly support BF, that's why your game has been really slow before, to actually get it to run you may need to get some later drivers from intel for your vid card cause it probably doesn't support hardware T&L.
Other than that the best solution is to go out and buy a reasonably cheap ATI Radeon or Nvidia Geforce chipset video card, the lowest spec you should consider is the GeForce MX 440, 64Mb DDR.
Other than that your other hardware is OK

Ya I am getting a new vid card, radeon 9600 128mb,
