Well, just bought this game today. Installed it, and went to www.3dgamers.com to get the 1.31 patch. After getting the patch, my computer completely locked up at the starting screens every time. I've tried with the Catalyst 3.1 and 3.2 drivers. All my motherboard drivers are updated as well. I'm still having a great time with the single player, but I want to be able to play online. Why is the patch not working!? My specs are: Radeon 9700 128MB Non-Pro, 2x 256MB PC2700 RAM, Leadtek nForce2 Motherboard, 120G Western Digital HD, etc. I know there are issues with the Radeon cards, but I have been searching everywhere and can't seem to find anyone with the same issue. Please help!

Couple of questions. It seems you can get to the screen where you pick Single Player. Does it lock-up the moment you hit the Multiplayer button? Which starting Screens? What is your Net connection? (Modem, LAN/Cable, DSL). Do you have Road To Rome installed? What's your sound-card? Have you tried a reinstallation of the Game?

Most people that have trouble it seems to be after a change in the computer hardware, drivers or installing Mods. BF1942 is not very flexable when it comes to system changes after it's installation. A reinstallation fixes most problems. However, you have to "Clean-up" your computer after the uninstall..... Clean the Registry if you can. Delete left-over folders and files, they are NOT removed during the uninstall and will harbor any problem settings.

Then reinstall: 1) BF1942 2) Road To Rome (if you have it) 3) 1.31 Patch.

It may help to reboot after each step. BF is weird about simple things.

Start the M/P Game first with "Less demanding" video and sound settings to see if your getting on the right track. Then bring it up-to-speed while testing for lock-ups along the way.

As for cleaning the Registry, it can be..... tricky. I use NBG CleanRegistry. It's very thurough and takes about 30 minutes. It has an undo feature if you screw-up (only needed it once)but still, use caution. If unsure or uncomfortable, don't mess with it.

Good luck.
