I have the exact same problem with my SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio card. It is so annoying that I quit playing because of it. 1.3 had to be the worst patch in history.

Driver Name: emu10k1m.sys

I got this from my DX Diagnostic tool. I do not think I have a soundblaster card.  :fistpunch: [/B]

That driver is for the SBLive, you do have one.

I was getting some sound problems with the SBLive in the Duron PC, but last night as I installed BF1942 to my new XP1800+ PC with onboard AC97 I wasn't getting any sound nor performance problems. How strange is that. I hope when I get the SB Audigy for the new system it won't have that problem.

:fistpunch: Thx for telling me! Is there any way I can get rid of the sound without installing win. 2000 and getting rid of XP?

I have a SBLive! (latest drivers) and I'm running the new 1.31 patch. I notice the crackly sound in SOME instances. Not all the time though.

I've also been having the popping sound problem, but it's only after the mission is completed, and it's kind of a tapping sound. I have an SB Live!, and I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer. I do have patch 1.31 installed, and I've also installed the updated drivers for my soundcard. If anyone with a SB Live! could tell me what settings they're using, I'd appreciate it.
