Just recently I noticed that when I play BF it chugs frequently no matter the congestion level of the battlefield. I'll be running along and it pauses for a second and skips frames and such. My game used to run better on my system:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ at 1.67Ghz 512mb of DDR RAM Nvidia GeForce 2 Integrated GPU Nvidia nforce everything else lol inluding onboard audio
These little pauses are annoying the fire out of me and I have done everything from reinstalling to defraging my HD to rolling my drivers forward and back and forward again. I've locked in the refresh rates and disabled write caching. I've also played around with the sound settings and it doesn't even change when disabling all sound. I've done just about everything I can think of aside from upgrading, but the thing is, I shouldn't have to. I used to play the game at 60% textures and now it chugs at 20%.
I post to get attention

GF2= bad. Get a new card. If you want to spend around $150 you can get a Radeon 9500PRO on eBay. If you want to spend less than $100 I'll suggest a Radeon 9000 or a newly released Radeon 9200 (replacement for 900 series.)

ya Ati radeon is a great card . i have had the 9000pro 128 ddr card for awhile and it works great .i usually get get 70-99 fps with everthing at full . it was cheap too :p
It's not easy for me to just go out and get a new card, right now. The time for that will come, but I was just wondering if anyone might know how to get around that. I really don't think my card is too old because I have played the game wonderfully and this just started yesterday. Apparently no one realizes that.
Now this is REALLY strange. I have messed around with my Card settings and now I can run it at 100% textures and get the same performance, I mean very good performance, but with the SAME VERY SMALL drops in the framerate.
I'm too cool to Post
