Are you running win xp? I had the same problem and switched to win 98se and it worked. I partitioned my hard drive with half xp and half 98se.

Hi viprdude,

It also could be a conflict between your particular CDROM drive and the Safedisc2 copy protection scheme used on the game cdrom, this has happened to a few other ppl. Most ppl have no problems with their OS (many actually changed form win98 and ME to XP to get the game running better.

I would suggest investigating the CDROM first before reinstalling.

Good Luck

I have installed it previously using this same CDROM and using the same OS, winxp pro. after I installed the new motherboard, the game will not install and there is a small ring on the outside of the CD, i have used other CDROM drives with the same errors. I am going to send back the game and get a new one from EA.

I used to get that loadsof times even if i used daemon tools to mount an image, it's not the cd it's windows XP being a pain.. Look in system events and u'll see loads of cdrom 1 had an error or so..It happens with virtual cd rom stations to. I had a format and re install and all was fine, I have now upgraded to a K7n2 with a XP2200 and 512 nanja pc2500 and so far (touch wood) problem as gone...If u make a backup of the cd and try it will either work ok or give you same error but on a different file.. Mine used to error out on cab files..
