Hi guys,

I noticed BF was laggy lately even though my fps and ping were good. I uninstalled BF and defragged my hd.

When I want to reinstall the official copy of Bf I get an error message at 9%:

Specified component cannot be found in the media. An attempt was made to access a component that does not exist in the named media.

I can only click "ok" and the installation aborts.

I did not have any problems when I installed the game before. There is nothing wrong with the dvd drive.

System specs:

AMD 2000+ Abit Kr7a mobo (via KT266a chipset) 512 Mb DDR Ram @266 mhz Sound blaster Audigy gamer Leadtek Winfast Geforce4 Ti4600 Win xp home Toshiba 16X dvd rom Plextor 24x writer

I overclocked my system slightly.

Any help greatly appreciated...

Hi Herr D,

in stead of submitting threads, why don´t you just clean the cd and install it then, ya big dummy!

Ehm, problem solved :fistpunch:

Yep, I forgot the plain obvious. Unfortunateley, I still have these delays in Battlefield...

I got a ping of about 40 in general, fps between 60 and 90 constantly, and still I get the feeling like I´m playing <20 fps...there´s this "lag" every second or so...

I just played UT2003 online without a hitch and I get about 50 fps there...using high video settings, so me no get it

I tried changing drivers, adjusting audio quality, playing with resolutions or video details...when I lower my resolution I get about 100 fps...plus the twilight Lag...it´s pissing me off

Hi Herr D!ckmeister,

I have seen the effect you describe on other puters and I'm not sure what causes it, except it seemed to go away after a while, possibly a software thing with drivers and DX or sound. You would run along for a few steps then it would seem to pause for a fraction of a second, then run, then pause etc. very annoying, but it doesn't seem to be a ping or lag thing cause the puter was running on a LAN game, it couldpossibly be a BIOS seting for your vid card or something like that?.

I would suggest playing around with drivers and settings until you get a combo that works.

Good luck

Hi Kid,

yeah I´ve seen it before too...tried making my video memory cacheable...changing agp and the grille size (forgot the real name), updating mobo, bios version, vid drivers...can I force it somewhere to run in open_gl only???

Thanks for your help
