Ok, I just wanted to know if any of you guys would be able to tell me how to fix this. About two weeks ago I tested my machine when running a server, not dedicated, I cant. But anyway I was able to handle up to about 6 players and everyones ping down in 60s and 70s, nothing higher than 150 unless I tried running 8 players, so I just stayed at 6. Well now all of a sudden, I can only handle like 4 ppl which to be honest sucks, and the pings are all like 170, very seldom does someone come in with lower than 70 now, I've tried Opti run and free ram pro. Nothing works, my firewall and antivirus is off when I do it and nothing is in the tray except the speaker, anyone know what i could do?.....do not tell me i have to run a dedicated server, never had to before and if i do I cant play.

heres system specs: Dell 8250 110 gig HD 256ram 2.4ghz P4

Please help!!!!!!!

i can run a 6 player non dedicated server on the stats u see below on sig with 576kb downstream and 288 upstream internet. BUT if i try and UP that to 7-8 or more everyone gets booted out!

ive tryed adjusting the bandwidth choke limit in server settings but didnt seem to help, everyones ping can be as low as 17 but soon as player 7 - 8 etc enters room everyone goes bye bye except me :(

i think its time i either UPPED to 1mb or use a spare pc to run as a server.

I went to a couple different websites and did few speed tests, heres the results Cable-modem.net said my connection was 630 based on this: Test your download speeds! To gauge how fast your cable modem can move data to and from the Internet, the CABLE-MODEM.NET Speed Test transfers a 322-kilobyte file and expresses the results in kilobytes, or thousands of bytes, per second. But then they said a T1 line is only 188?!?!?!? (I select T1 in game no difference in performance from DSL) Went to DSLreports.com they gave me readings on up and down stream Download speed 1750kbps Upload speed 219kbps but in they're comparison chart mine is just above theirs for "Fastest Multiplayer Games" so WTF? Could DC.38 be causing the issue? I have DC .38 1.4 patch EoD 12% Action BF<---noticed it when I first got this?!?!?!? and the Pirates mod, which is cool...lol

Most servers can handle only a few players, so alot of the time it's the server causing the lag because they are running a larger player limit than they should. Go to options/sound and lower all your setting to there lowest. At times (where there is a lot of activity going on) I will turn my sound off till thing thin out.

let me get this straight.. when things get heated in bf, u just stop and goto ingame menu and turn sound off? surely when u return ur erm DEAD?

maybe i misread that but huh?

As for server buisness surely it cant be the mod? ..can it? ur speed seem's  if correct.. u have nearly a 2mb connection!!?! surely thats enuff to hold a 32 player server..(dedicated) and surely a 10-16 player (non-dedicated)

Ideally we need to see a list of recommended speeds for X ammount of players etc. in my case perhaps 6 players is MAX for my speed :moon:

yea I figured that I could handle alot of ppl too but I think it may have something to do with only having 256 of RAM, I was just fustrated because the number of ppl I could handle dropped
