I just went through the same thing and I uninstalled,cleaned the registry, and any other files related to EA/Battlefield files. Restarted the 'puter and reinstalled the game. All works fine now,(but for how long?), this is the second time in like 3 weeks I've had to do this. It's never done this before till I installed XP.

Ok Sgt.Grim,

In your last thread you were asked to post your system specs, this is what you said in reply;

t has nothing to do wit my system specifacations or any thing

Now I will tell you straight, unless you post your system specs you will get very little help. How do YOU know it's nothing to do with your system specs?

You have posted very little info, and then expect us to just come up with the answer like pulling a rabbit from a hat, that's magic, not tech support! It simply doesn't work like that. This is how it works.

You tell us what the problem is, post your system specs, and then we will look at what you have and either suggest some options to try or ask for more info. You supply the extra info and we have another look.

For instance, there are a number of different points where the game stops before you can play, and each point is caused by a different problem.

1) if it loads a black screen then drops to desktop it could mean an incorrectly installed map.

2) if it gets to the point where you are loading a map and then crashes to the desktop just before the map loads it could be the refresh rate problem.

You haven't even given us that BASIC info. So kindly post your system specs, give us more info about what happens when you try to load the game, and we will see where we are.

Thanks for your attention

Hi pleasuresabbath,

Your problem is quite likely the Video card. What you have there is an Intel integrated video card, which uses system ram for vid display. I went to the Intel tech support site and found this;

IntelĀ® 82810 Graphics Controller Battlefield 1942* game exits to the desktop without an error Symptom(s): Battlefield 1942* game exits to the desktop without an error Solution: Intel is not aware of a fix or workaround for this issue. Additional information may be available at the game manufacturer's website.

Not a lot of help is it, so I am afraid it look like you are stuck, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Here is a link to the tech support page with the relevant details;

http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel810/sb/CS-004023-prd798.htm

Good luck

P.S. You see Sgt.Grim, that's the way it's supposed to work!

You could try the refresh rate fix for a start, go to the folder called;

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings

Or wherever else you installed BF, and open the file called;

VideoDefault.con with NOTEPAD (nothing else, just notepad) and look for the line that says this;

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0

and change it to this

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

This is only one suggestion and may not fix it, telling me exactly where during startup of the game that BF crashes would be a lot of help.

Good luck

:cya: :cya: :cya:

:smokin:

P.S. Your system is perfectly adequate to run BF - your vid card is the weakest component there but it is still plenty powerful enough to run BF. If you haven't already download the latest drivers from Nvidia.
