I am trying to host a small server for me and a friend, but for some reason he cannot connect. I have my ICF disabled, and nothing checkin in the ICS box..."allow other network users to connect through this computer connection"...Do i need to turn this on?

So all ports are open and no firewall is running...

Why cannot he see me...

And i don't have a router on my dsl...

WTF IS WRONG?

sounds possibly like you might be trying to do a internet game, but are choosing the lan option instead. a bit more details might be helpful...

try giving him your ip and the game port since its an internet game. and is it a dedicated or in game server? you shouldn't have to mess with any kind of settings if you have no router, not including the ones you have to change of course if you want, everything should be fine for internet hosting as long as there is no firewall enabled.

the thingy with the lights might be a router, or a modem.

I'm not familer with the whole line, but the only speedstream I ran into was a router. Check out http://www.speedstream.com/ As far as routers' go, it was pretty friendly and easy to set up.
