-Ghost-I keep getting a "Installation Support file not found. Catastrophic Failure." This happens when I try to install. I've tried cleaning my CD, etc. I used to be able to run BF 1942 fine, but then one day, when I decided to install it again, that error message came up. Can anyone help me?

Had the same problem. Contacted EA and the first fix didn't work. Second one did, but it involves uninstalling the game and then going into your registry and deleting all the EA and BF42 HKey references. BE CAREFUL !!! You can mess your 'puter up if you do this wrong. Make a system restore point and back up your registry before you try the fix. (of course then you re-install...) Hope that helps.

CIRECIRECIREok so i have a really bad problem and it hasnt been adressed in this forum yet i start bf2 and i try to get on my account ive been on it before and shit and player but now it just says "connecting to server" and it freezes and stops responding, sometimes i have to restart my whole computer ive already tried uninstalling but it didnt work and sit used to do this only like 1 in every 3 times i got on but now it does it everytime i try to log on and i cant play the game at all and it blows

Had this problem too. Got a firewall installed? My problem was the firewall was waiting for me to allow connection, but the game would not let me ALT-TAB to the firewall and allow it. There must be another way around it, but I simply disable my firewall before I start the game now. Hope this helps.

I too am having this same exact problem. I have directx 8.1 and sound works for everything else that I have tried, music, movies and other games. I can still play the game but it kind of sucks to not have any sound at all. I just installed BF: 1942, it works fine in the graphics deaprtment, but there is no sound! none whatsoever. It isn't faulty hardware, I am listening to music on my computer at the moment. It's just sound on BF: 1942. not even ambience, music, gunshots...anything! Please help. General Molotov

As all of you have noticed, the crash happens when installing 1.6.19b patch and not whith the 1.6.19 release. Is not a problem of antiviruses or firewalls, not even hardware or Windows stuff. Is just a bad patch release. I recommend NO TO INSTALL IT and send as many e-mails to EA support as necessary for them to fix it. (BECAUSE ALL WE ARE LEGAL USERS, AREN'T WE?) :naughty: ..well, at least I am and is not gratefull to see how a game stops working when the same company is launching new products related with it. (BF2 or BF2142) ...of course I'm not sugesting anything. Some "illuminated" are suggesting to unninstall a security upgrade from Microsoft, and are blaming Karspersky I.S. about this bug. I say I'm not going to compromise my security for a game, and it's not my fault if now doesn't work. But as I say, is EA's fault and is not the first (nor last) time a patch or driver becomes a bug. And that's all, I suggest keepin' playing with the 1.6.19 version in the few servres still available (only in pure mode, no mods) and wait for another patch.

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME LOL. I am midway through my modding, and I cannot get original maps from bf1942 to copy over without loading all of bf1942's original objects and textures. I want my modded files to show in the maps. I tried copying over DC's midway for example but then it obviously just loads all of desert combats crap up. So I first copied over a map then opened it with WINRFA and tried making the MapId bf1942 changed to MapId TheRebornFightersMod...my mod for the clan... but then the whole game doesn't load or sometimes just my mod..Very odd. :uhm: Somebody please help me thanks. P.S. hey iceman! lol _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ :0wned:

Hola, I have recently had the same difficulty as you, I opened the videodefault.con file, and it was already set to 1, so I changed it to 2 and It's been working fine since, to open that file to change click open on it, when it says "Choose a program to open file with" click it, and choose Notepad, then in notepad It's as simple as changing the '1' to a '2' then you save the file, close it and start playing Battlefield. I'm a little slow at the moment so if someone has already told you I'm sorry, but hopefully I was of some help. Goodluck.

Hey everyone! Maybe you can help me with a problem. My computer specs are as follows: AMD 3400+ (2.2 Ghtz) 1 gig Ram Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT windows xp home (service pack 3) 60 Gb of free hard drive space after installation I just purchased the battlefield anthothogy, and installed just BF1942. I downloaded punkbuster, and the 1.61 patch. The game starts fine, but as soon as it is done loading a multiplayer game, it crashes to the desktop. It always says that battlefield 1942 exe. has encountered a problem and must close. I cant seem to fix this issue. I have downloaded new drivers for my video card, made sure no other programs were running in the background, de-installed, and re-installed the game, made sure the resolution was 800X600@60 hrtz. and none of it has worked. What is the issue here? Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an\y easy fix that I have overlooked? Whats the point in having a multiplayer game that I can't play online? Is there a new website other than www.battlefield1942.ea.com that I can go to for download help? Does EA even support this game anymore? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! You can reach me @ www.brentburrows1@hotmail.com with any responses. Thanks Trstno1

Hi, all.

Am just trying to rectify an issue that's come up with BF 1942...

The US/British weapons aren't as they should be!

- The Bren has been replaced by the BAR - the US Engineers's M1 Garand is sometimes replaced by the No4

I'm unsure but I think this problem started to occur after the patch to v1.6. Is this fault easily rectified? I'd prefer to not have to reinstall if I can help it!

 • Hardware:
 • CPU: Athlon XP 2.1GHz
 • RAM: 768 Mb
 • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT 256Mb
 • 21" of CRT loving
 • Software
 • Nvidia Driverset 75.19*
 • Windows XP Home SP3
 • DirectX 9.0c
 • Battlefield 1942 Anthology ver 1.6

* I use an older set of drivers because I've had some games cease working with later releases.
