I am having a problem with the 1.2 patch that I have yet to find in the forums. I installed the patch and when I launch the game it crashes saying "BF1942 has caused an error in ~DF394B.TMP, BF1942 will now close." Then goes on to say it has caused and error in MOD.DLL. I have a legitimate copy of the game with no mods installed. It worked fine until I installed the patch. I have downloaded the patch from a couple different sites so I don't think I got the beta patch. Anyone have any clues?

BTW: I also reinstalled the game and it still didn't work.

Hi jlutzvick,

I have a had a look around for you and it appears that this error is not a BF1942 specific error and can be caused by a number of things. Apparantly this same error has also happened to ppl running MOHAA, The Sims, Grand Prix 3 and 4 etc. I found this list of possible fixes on a website on MOHAA (here is a link to the site, it's down the bottom so do a search on ~DF394B.TMP:

http://www.geocities.com/lionshonorsquad/mohaa.htm#df394b

"MOHAA caused an invalid page fault in module ~DF394B.TMP" This error message indicates a trouble in properly extracting data from the games CD to a temporary location on your hard disk. Make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts. To do this, hold the Ctrl and Alt keys down at the same time and hit the Del key once. This will in turn bring up a window called "close programs". The only two applications that you want listed here before installing the game are "explorer" and "systray". Close all other programs by double-clicking on them. You will need to repeat this process after closing each application. Note that some applications may take multiple times before closing. Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system.

Try cleaning out your C:\Windows\Temp directory. Do not delete the folder itself, rather open the folder, select all of the contents, and then delete them. Don't worry that you will erase something that you'll need, the system will tell you if you are about to delete something that your computer is currently using.

If you have more than one CDROM drive make sure you have tried to run the game from each of the different drives.

Some other steps to try are to try un-checking DMA under the CDROM Settings. -Right-click on the My Computer Icon and select Properties. -Click the plus sign next to CDROM -Double-click on the CDROM drive in question then click on the Settings tab. -Uncheck DMA, press OK then CLOSE and restart the computer.

Also, Follow the suggestions below to ensure a more compatible CD-ROM setting: 1. Press the right mouse button on the "My Computer" icon from your Desktop. 2. Select "Properties" from the menu that appears. 3. Select the "Performance" tab from the "System Properties" window. 4. Select the "File System..." button. 5. Select the "CD-ROM" tab from the " File System Properties" window. 6. "Supplemental Cache Size:" should be is set to "Large." 7. "Optimize Access Pattern for:" should be set to "Quad-speed or higher." Note: If these settings are already correct, try lowering the Supplemental Cache Size."

I hope something in this list works for you.

Good luck.

Hi HeroFromHyrule,

We really need some info about your puter before we can give any help. While your symptoms may seem the same the cause may be entirely different. If you supply me with CPU/Vid/Mobo/Sound setup I may be able to help.

Get back to us

Hi HeroFromHyrule,

When you say the same problem is it the exact same problem word for word like this?

"BF1942 has caused an error in ~DF394B.TMP, BF1942 will now close." Then goes on to say it has caused and error in MOD.DLL.

Your setup seems to be adequate to run bf1942. have you updated all your drivers to the latest, including sound and mobo?

Get back to me.

I have the exact same error except the MOD.DLL error. Maybe I should check the internet for driver updates and hope that helps.
