I have a GF4TI4200 and wanted to install new drivers. I uninstalled the old drivers and the video card itself. So when i try to install the card the main screen comes up with green lines on the monitor. Its never done this before and was working fine. Even when i try to install the drivers my screen goes black. Im on the onboard gfx and i would like my card to work again.
What o/s?
XP home edition
P4 1.8ghz amd atholon 2200+
Another thing i start up my computer and it just kicks right into safe mode.
you say u took out the card too?? hows come? anyways..
1. put the card back in 2. boot your computer 3. Go into setup, disable onboard video 3. if it posts, then when the o/s comes up, install the new drivers

Well which one is it
Look in your Device Manager under System Properties to see if you have a conflicting hardware device.
Also, what version drivers are you trying to install? And since you have onboard video, make sure you disable it when you have your external video card in.
I did a system restore and that didnt help. So i turned off my computer put the card in its agp slot. The drivers are WHQL 43.51 from guru3d.com. When the card is in its slot the screen goes black so i turn off my computer and take the card out. You know how windows automatically finds new hardware? Well mine doesnt find it. Its like windows doesnt recognize it.
You might want to try another video card in your agp... the mobo might have some problems.
I have no other video card.
Is your mobo still under warranty? You might want to return it.
Could it just be the video card?
