I was reading my French textbook and I came across a region of France known as "Bretagne". I saw, to my surprise that the people of this region were called "Bretons". This might explain why Bretons in TES have French names (Gaston Toussaud, Francois Mottiere, etc.) If this is something most people know, I apologize.

Most of the TES lore like gods, stories, books, races, etc...Have their origin in already excisting stuff in the real world. If I remember right Azura was based upon a Greek goddess, but I don't know which one it was again, there are even more similarities with a story of this goddess and how to find azura's shrine in Morrowind. Also I discovered that the map of Tamriel looks a lot like that of Australia...Ok I admit you need to have some imagination, but when you look closely you can see a lot of resemblanses, just place some sees in between and place some islands more to the left or more to te north...

Ok perhaps I had been smoking just a little too much substances to see a resemblance...
