The main guilds are: The Blades Fighters Guild Mages Guild Thieves Guild Dark Brotherhood

Than there are some smaller factions you can join like: Arena Knights of the White Stallion Order of the Virtuous Bloods ...

The following contains spoilers of the rewards for completing both small factions.

Spoiler: Show

Well I discovered the Knights of the White Stallion on accident but the few quests it has gave me the title Knight Errant and a nice little lodge. Maybe you have encountered the White Stallion Lodge near Bravil, you need a key for that lodge and you get it when you finish the questline.

The order of the virtuous blood is very convenient for getting gold, once you've finsihed the few quests you get 250 gold for every sample of Vampire Dust. Well as an alchemist I had collected like 35 samples from all the quests I had done.

are the Knights of the white stallion like the Imperial Legion in Morrowind? Cause I was hoping there would be a Guild like that for My Imperial Crusader character.

No it's a very small questline not a full blown guild, talk to the count of Leyawiin to start it. And you can't join the imperial legion in Oblivion like you couldn't become an Ordinator in Morrowind.

oh...that sucks, I guess theres not alot of choices. Thats what I liked about Morrowind there were different kinds of factions, but it seems that Oblivion only has a couple. I liked the idea of joining the political factions in Morrowind The Great houses. anyway thanks for the information! Oh and just one more question: In the Main quest of Morrowind, you joined a faction that led you through the main quest; The Blades, is that a returning faction and is it the same type of set up as it was in Morrowind?

Do the main questline and you'll get to join up, ie the quests related to the King etc

Well in Morrowind you could only join one House but Oblivion is definately quality over quantity. I mean Morrowind might have had more quests/guilds but they basicly came down to Fedex and kill this guy or that woman. I didn't have as much fun in Morrowind as I'm having in oblivion with alot of the quests, there are multiple way to get the job done and they range from kidnapping and beating information out of him to playing a clue game.
