Don't get the title wrong and think i hate Oblivion, but has anyone ntoiced how comparatively horrible the game is to how good it looked in the preview videos?I mean, one of them shows how amazing the AI once was by displaying Estelle Renoit asking you to keep her company due to fear of the deadra attacks, totally random event, and then she would pick up arrows,a bow, then even a potion and drink it to improve her marksman skill then practicing with the bow before and after the potion, and showing the difference, then even having her interact with her dog and feed it!And look at how it turned up in the released version:The dialogue is fucked up and people in town call Renoit a man.I'm not fucking kidding, they refer to Estelle as a man. What in the fuck went through the developers minds cutting this stuff out?You know, lag and all that kind of stuff was a concern, but why couldn't they keep the good things from the original version and the good things from the actual thing?

Even worse is quest linearity.Almost every quest in the game is the exact same:Kill monster A then collect item B from Chest C.Worse than that still is the fact that the touted "Real-time" world that was originally displayed never showed up.The game world just freezes if you decide not to do a quest, trees and plants never grow, ingredients never pop up in new locations, they simply respawn where they were before, and not to mention it seems like when someone is murdered, even a count, everyone gets over it in an instant. You'd think if you lopped Andel Indarys' head off with a deadric axe the people of Cheydinhal would chase you down and kill you, either that or run you out of town for good. But what do they do instead? The guards give you a 1000 gold fine and you get no more infamy than if you killed a beggar walking on a barren road, and they don't even seem to react to his death, they just resume life as always. They don't even fucking mention it!

And look at characters like the Night Mother and Gray Fox.........the Gray fox is a severely ugly count who went missing when he put on the cowl of Nocturnal, wears nothing more than leather armor, and a serious moral problem. Why is it in the earlier thieves guild quests you're never supposed to kill anyone,as the Gray Fox ordered, but then when you get quests directly from him you can go on a killing spree almost?*sigh*Well i guess beggars can't be choosers,as the game clearly displays in itself..........

Feel free to comment here on anything you find stupid or just plain uninspired in Oblivion. Please take this as a level-headed post and not a flat-out rant by me.

I think the AI is similar to what was described beforehand. I see people following their daily routines, exercising, casting spells, hunting and what not. It isn't an AI that is convincsingly realistic but it is better than in most other games.

The quests could have been better. Some are quite entertaining but they seem to be overly simple and linear, which seems to be directly connected to the game being released for console.

DO NOT THINK THAT, even though these people point out a few things that tey feel could have been done better in the game, that is NOT a reasonable excuse for not buying this great game. There are much more thing very good about this game, and if you were thinking about buying it I recommend you run to the nearest game shop and pick up a copy. I'd recommend the PC version, but if you got a crappy PC and a console, you should buy the console one.

I see your point Cloud. No the game isn't perfect, but it was made by imperfect people. Even though I could tend to agree with some of what you said, it is still one of the best games I've ever played, and I still love it. I'm off to play it now.
