So what if Bethesda made an Elder Scrolls that allowed all of Tamriel able to be explored? Sure it would be very laggy while outside cities and dungeons because of the massive world outside but still, wouldn't it be awasome? And it could have next gen graphics or Morrowind's graphics so it wouldn't be so laggy. Just think: You start out in Cyrodiil since it's the capital province and you can explore Morrowind for old memories, or Daggerfall for really old memories, or even provinces that aren't in an Elder Scrolls game. You could have a map of all of Tamriel as well as individual maps for individual provinces, a storyline that involves all provinces. If Bethesda made a game like this, it would be a worthy competitor of the Half Life series, or even the Halo series.

So what would it be like?

Now you can't compare it with Half Life or Halo. Those are a completely different genre.

We had one game where most of Tamriel was explored, and that was Arena. What they are going to have to choose is how they are going to work with size. They can go with Morrowind and Oblivion's approach and compress the actual distances to a reasonable game size, or go like Daggerfall with randomly generated landscape to make a large game.

Allso, remember Daggerfall is the name of the game, not a province. Daggerfall took place in the port regions of Hammerfell and High Rock. It is more specifically a city in High Rock which the main quest involves heavilly.

Morrowind took place in Vvardenfell, a small island within the province of Morrowind.

The issue with a game like this is that it is going to take up a hell of a lot of space, and knowing Beth they'll try to make a console port, which'll ruin it. Other issue is they might make it an MMO.

I would love to see it, but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon, if ever.

Ok for such a game to exist! You would need a super PC,maybe like 500gb free space on HD...And no console cant handle that...So i donĀ“t think that they will do such a game. But it would be very good! They would need to make an new award! The game of the century:P...

I wouldn't say 500 GB, but I would imagine it would take 50-100 GB.

A PC with a 8800GT and a mid-high core 2 duo (or quad core) would probably be able to handle it too, you'd just have longer load times.

it would be AWSM!

Yeah, the biggest game I have is S.T.A.L.K.E.R which takes up about 11GB's (including mods). 50-100 is mentul!

It could be possible if they use the same distance scale they used in Oblivion and Morrowind. Actual or somewhat close to it would be impossible unless you want to dedicate a large chunk of a usual HD to it.

Vinceh,Does your sig happen to be Richmond from The tv show "The IT crowd" Oh and back on subject,It might work if all the differant provences had like a Border gate around the edge so that each Provence is a differant cell,It might work. Quite possibly it could all be in differant shortcuts E.g Hit the Morrowind Shortcut and you get Teleported to Seyda neen,Then when you are done in Morrowind,Save,Exit, and open up another province shortcut that is on the desktop.

I think that would give a lot more trouble than it is worth to go back and forth to launch different apps for each provenice. It's still going to take up space regardless.

It could work by just collecting the stuff into a single game world like you said, and dumping them when you go to the next game world.
