My God, man, I have never, never been that completely blown away by any game engine before. It's no wonder so many mods are saying, "We'll wait for HL2," I mean I'm half-tempted to start a mod and just wait. Man oh man, just think of the kind of World War II game you can have on that engine... It's f'in staggering. And then the possibilities beyond WW II, it's incredible. Just the camera being separated form the tripod but still able to film whatever you point it at it! I mean... gah.. I don't have words for it.. My download kept cutting out when trying to get it from FilePlanet, but after watching the thing twice, I can say it was 100 percent worth any and all bit of frustration.
If you haven't seen this movie and enjoy fps games, YOU HAVE TO GO DOWNLOAD IT. Half Life 2 has a pretty high bar to reach because it's not enough that it comes out and ends up being a good game, it has to also set the standard. From what I saw today, it doesn't simply set the standard, it throws it forward by leaps and bounds. I mean the game itself looks pretty much like the best in-game cg movies right now. You add in what looks like smooth infantry gameplay, and then add in the mind-boggling amount of tactical freedom you get with the object interactivity and such, and it's really a thing of beauty, truly. Mods can and will kick some serious ass on Half Life 2, and games built with the Half Life 2 engine hold even more potential. I must've yelled over 30 exclamations during that movie, I was just flat out staggered by it. I gotta go sit and stare at a wall while my brain tries to handle it all. Excuse me. :p

Yeh i liked the barrels and the pool bit,oh and the wooded fence bit.The bit where he blocked the door with the table and the door was moving was cool too.I liked the way the guy went straight to the window to shoot. The coke machine and the traps and the grenade blowing that guy into the air.I thought the exact same thing as in the white soldiers should of been german soldiers set in WWII.Did you laugh when the guy said will this run on my 386?LOL

If a piece of ingame footage could be orgasmic in quality, HL2 gameplay video takes the cake  My GOD man! I can't freaking believe the things that engine is capable of! Did you SEE that wood at the beginning, in the white room? Absolutly no hit on framerate  I wonder what system they were using though.. hm. Anyway, yes, DOWNLOAD it you monkeys! You will find Zen, your feng shui will be complete, it'll ying your yang, and all that asian stuff. It's just such a cool idea.. building the world out of MATERIALS, not textured polygons. If it looks like wood, it'll act like wood confounded :D
There go another pair of pants >.<
Gonna have to upgrade my computer to run it in all it's beauty, but it'll be WORTH it!

SWEET MERCIFULL CR*P!!!! Amazing! Ive been intentionally avoiding the HL2 hype and reviews for some time now to avoid anticipation. Couldnt resist this though and now Im anticipating like a Mutha F*****!!!!
Sadly though, this clip made me realize that I may never see the outdoors again. Goodbye job, goodbye girlfriend, goodbye lakes and local bars. You will be missed. But with dynamically altered collision maps and enhanced shader modifiers Ill just have to struggle on. :) :)
On second thought, Id better hang on to the girlfriend. (Someones gotta bring me my beer and pizza until I figure out how to import them from fridge to pc.) ;)
See, I don't lie, folks. This thing is just.. it can't be real. It's got to be some kind of cruel hoax. The mods, oh the mooooods!! I hope a lot of games decide to employ the HL2 engine which is what you see in the beginning and obviously what HL2 runs on (hard to figure that out, I know). It appears that you can add vehicles in too since there's that buggy in the HL2 portion, so with that... you can make some AMAZING games. Imagine Battlefield on the HL 2 engine with vehicles.. Oh I hope it's possible. >_<
Ditch, everything you said sounds about right. Screw the sunlight anyway.
