i dont understand the fascination with these stupid little asian cars with the 12ft high spoilers, the racing stickers, the coffee can muffler, the low profile tires, and the bright colors. WTF???? i hate these cars...nothing like a good muscle car.

We kinda have the debate going in another thread but not really anymore. The bright colors aren't really typical of riceburners (at least not in my area), I see far more yellow domestic and European cars than Japanese cars. As for the stickers, it's simply telling the next guy on the road what's in your car. Sometimes, if your sponsored, you have to wear Company X's stickers, but on the large these cars aren't sponsored. Seems like ever since Fast and the Furious the import scene has exploded. I'm not a fan of the big spoilers either, they're just look stupid and aren't functional (in most cases). If you look at car-mod trends you'll see that the riceburner is the new chevy small block. These cars have small engines but are easy to mod, are very light, reliable, and cheap. By modding people can get these little cars into the low 10s. If you've ever worked on a car you'd know that there's a lot of satisfaction when you hook it up (be it a '68 camaro or a '99 integra). It's all a matter of opinion and all based on the good ol' fascination with speed. I like old domestic cars and new Japanese cars so don't think I'm a stubborn, import fan-boy.

I actually like that car. I wouldn't do that to my own, but the picture doesn't look bad. Now, lowering a Civic about an inch off the ground, putting the muffler on it that not only makes it sound like a lawnmower engine but magnifies that irritating noise by a factor of ten, and then putting some ridiculously ugly rims on makes no sense to me. Which is pretty much the same thing Zab was saying, I believe.

But what do I know.. I'm in love with Porsche.
