*Soviet.Power;4310440 I realise there is a significant difference between taking drugs and pokemon.

Not really, both are incredibly stupid...

Why aren't parents beating their kids more, it worked for me. My dad told me if he ever caught be doing drugs he'd make sure I couldn't set down for a month, assuming I survived the beating...

Haven't tried any drugs.......ever

goin fast;4310348They arn't supposed to be doin it at all PERIOD no matter what it is. They keep doin this they WILL move on to the real stuff.

Yeah, any sort of drug is wrong! Well I'm off to have my cup of hot chocolate now, before you know it I'll be pimping my sister to support my budding crack habbit.

Seriously though most people use psychoactive substances recreationally. Get home at the end of the day feeling tired and have a cup of coffee, or hot chocolate, or whatever. To claim that any use of drugs, (and sugar fits under that heading perhaps even less than coffee does,) leads to 'the real stuff' is simply false. We use psychoactives all the time, both growing up as children and later on in life, to smooth out the rough areas, after work, in hospitals, after accidents, at the dentists even for some people, and we're not all out in the streets snorting crack and pimpin' hoes.

I don't think most people count caffeine and sugar as drugs, myself one of them, despite the medical definition.

Snorting Kool-Aid? Elementary school kids have been sniffing Lucas, Crushed Altoids, Chili Powder, Ice Tea mix and Hot Cocoa Mix since I was a kid. Most people did it for the nostalgic feeling of doing drugs. It is sad really. The few people I knew that did do it only a fraction of those ever got into the real stuff most.

Because society has realised that having people learn why things are bad works longer-term than fear of an authority. Quite frankly society wasn't much less criminal back in the time when people "disciplined" their children.

The same applies to other things. Ultimately someone who does not consider for example rape or murder wrong will not refrain from it, unless he is locked up or killed.
