Well, it's her own stupid fault.

When you visit a country you respect it's laws and customs, not violate one of the most important and sacred ones that they have.

No sex before Marriage, and public nudity and sex is just idiotic, not to mention the drinking she claims to have done. What else could you expect?

All that's left for us to decide is what's more idiotic: the law itself, or her irresponsibly breaking it?

Was she ignorant of the law or not?

The event happened in Dubai, the U.A.E did it not? That's an Islamic region. Their values may come across as idiotic to you, (Karst) but the fact still remains, when you visit another country, you agree to abide by it's values and laws.

And I figure she was ignorant of the law, seeing as she was drunk off her face. Alcohol isn't an excuse for her actions though.

And not knowing the law is either.

It was woman's own stupidity, not to mention that according to some news the arresting police officer gave her a chance to stop having sex but woman refused and later started to act aggressively. I don't feel any sympathy for her.

I don't think she will get that harsh punishment, propably just 1-2 years or even less.

There are not many places in the US or UK that you could get away with that behavior if you were caught let alone in the middle east with its history towards women and sex and alcohol.

I would not expect a foreigner to know all the laws and would show leniency to a certain extent but that would also be removed if the person was unapologetic, belligerent, or aggressive toward the police officer.

I would expect her to be found guilty, serve a light sentance in Dubai then possibly deported.

I never said not knowing the law was an excuse. You more or less echoed my perspective. It was her own stupidity.

FlodgyI never said not knowing the law was an excuse.

I didn't mean that you meant that, I just "gave my 2 cents".

Don't know why this article has to play on the fact she is British, doesn't matter what country you are from, you follow the rules of the country you are in not the one you are from.
