Hmm, report it to the police...or ask a lawyer. That's what I'd do. GF is always a good place to ask for advice though. winkx.gif

I wonder why you gave the money first hand to a guy yoiu really dont trust, common sense there bud.

Well depending on how much you gave the guy, (I think its $100) then police would take it into consideration. But seeing that you wouldn't give someone 100 dollars just for shoveling your driveway you cant take that option.

If you contacted him through phone then you just call him and yell at him foir cheating you, and say that ill calll the police (which you cant, but it makes a decent threat;))

If you met him in person then go to the place you met each other, then check for his house within 3-5 miles of where you met. If you cant look wider, but if you still cant find him then your out of luck.

you should only give peopel half the money or less (or even none) until after they complete the job.

Yea, I agree with Smitty, pay half before and half later, but he could still cheat you out of one-half of the cash. You might as well in the future only pay people after the job is complete, that way you know that job is complete. Did this happen a while ago or recently? I live farther north than Michigan and haven't seen a flake of snow in three months.

I also got hosed out of some cash. In early March I deposited $300 (in the form of four $50 bills and five $20 bills) at my local bank branch into an ATM, I got the receit of my deposit. Two weeks later I received a letter in the mail concerning a problem with my deposit. I went to the bank and asked the teller what exactly was the problem with my deposit and she responded as to saying I only deposited $100 and that I had made an error in keying in my deposited amount. I asked what could be done in any case to get my cash back and the woman implied that I had lied about depositing $300 and that two people who count the money from the ATM machine confirmed that I only deposited $100.

I was livid, I couldn't get my money back as I had no proof of my deposit other than my ATM receit from the initial deposit (which the teller said could have been fraudulent in amount as I could have put $500 while only putting $50 and the paper say the same). I stormed out of the bank with my mother swearing at the bank teller, eg: "This is F*cking ridiculous, etc".

Ever since, I have not deposited a single dime into the bank and have lost all trust in the entire banking service. I now carry the letter and bank statements in my wallet everyday to remind me of my hate for the bank.

EDIT: I don't have a job, that money came from my entire year's savings of birthday and christmas money. If the bank ever does something like that again, I will personally burn the bank to the ground along with their precious money.

@ ironass, i would chalk that uto one of life little lessons...but if you did meet up with him again, you could always give him one of lifes little lesson.....:spank: @ octovon, have you considered seeing the branch manager? there may have been other complaints (and the management maby keeping these close to his/her chest till they have proof against the employee(s) that count the $$. in the meantime, going into the branch and having the teller count the money being deposited could be an alternative.
