Yeah lets trust the religious view on abortion. Just like when a few hundred years ago, people trusted religion when the church said that the world was flat.

1. Perhaps you're thinking of heliocentrism? The Earth's roundness was well-established 500 years ago.

2. In any case, the embryo/fetus could become a human, and therefore is a subject that must not be treaded upon lightly. Regardless of religion, what is a human person?

There's no clear cut line to judge where the bundle of cells stop and the person begins. You can look as hard as you want, but you can never find it. Personally, I think anything done after about two weeks of getting pregnant is like killing a person rather than some cells. But, thats just me.

I prefer to withhold judgement. I will let God decide that question, because I do not beleive we can. In the meantime, the primary way to combat over-abortion is education.

Also, as it is, abortions are fairly cheap, so how about increasing fees for each operation within a year, but provide free condoms at the clinic? That would stop a lot of them.

This being a huge issue in the world (or at least the US), I would like to recommend that it be stickied for the sake of posterity.

I have it bookmarked in my "reference threads" folder, anyway... People seem to be generally good at classic debates like this here, there's a decent bit of good posting going on, and I've lost track of how many new thoughts and ideas I've encountered in the religious discussion thread alone...

duffman108To me abortion is not relgious its down to murder or not murder. That baby thats growing inside the mother is alive. NOT DEAD. Its murder. Also to kill it before it becomes a baby its STILL ALIVE. ITS ALIVE. NOT DEAD BUT ALIVE. Abortion is murder no matter how you look at it. ITS MURDER. You are still killing a living creature. Specialy a creature that will turn into a human being. You could be killing your daughter that could make you laugh and bring you good times. Also if a 15 year old girl gets pregnant its her own fault for having sex instead of waiting. She needs to deal with her own decision she made instead of KILLING her OWN CHILD.

Have you heard of MRS GREN? Movement Respiration S (can't remember something like sense) Growth Reproduction Excretion Nutrition These are the things an organism must be able to do to be classed alive. So theorectically the moment an embryo can do everything there (bar reproduction as it will be able to in future and not inside its mum) it would be alive and aborting it would be classed murder. If you can provide logical examples to all of these things in a embryo then you would have proven that abortion is wrong. Otherwise please tell me at what point in development can a human can do all of those things above. Remember MRS GREN.

No, fire has no senses. It can't feel if you poked it or not. Therefore it is not alive.

Fire does not move of its own accord Fire does not reproduce of its own accord Fire does not sense things

Fire is nothing more than a chemical redox reaction. If you want to know what redox means, look it up. I'm not getting into it.
